She looks like my first girlfriend.
Maybe she's my daughter.
And yeah, the album is seriously excellent.
I am old and cranky.
Here is my music.

really happy about all of the deserved attention she has gotten this year. she's a solid songwriter and great lyricist. everyone i've introduced her album to has loved it

she is seriously very, very good at what she does. you don't really see talent like hers often. i love the lyricism, the way she speaks in to the mic, her whole repertoire. like someone said, she reminds you of VU in a way, but much more homespun and comfortable. a friend of mine joked about how her accent moves around, but i think it makes it even better as well when she's trying to sound twangier. it just feels nice and honest and genuine to listen to. it's real good music in every way.
Nice day if it doesn't rain.

someone else mentioned the cobain influence, but i also think about his influences, like the mekons and the vaselines especially

I mean, they're straight from Margret Atwood? Plus the most viral tweet from #yesallwomen?

she's the best. Somehow I hadn't heard her cover of Rowland S Howard's "Shivers" until recently. Maybe my favorite version. Haven't heard the new album yet...

Hadn't realized this leaked. Don't like it as much as her first two (which I love), after the first listen. It's a pretty depressed record. The promos are definitely highlights.

I never really 'got' Courtney Barnett, even though I really wanted to give her a fair shake I guess, and I did enjoy a live boot that was kinda more raw..

but I really like this new one on first listen. very 90's, late Pavementy/Built to Spill flourishes in the production. And she's leaning just the right bit less on the ocker dolewave accent which as an Australian I find to be kinda grating affect in a lot of Musicians Younger Than Me

sorta surprised at the lack of enthusiasm here, but maybe what I like is what others don't

Yeah, it's like she took all the wrong lessons from Kurt Vile. I loved the last one and thought most of this is unlistenable.

Agree that the early songs are the best. Think I only really like City Looks Pretty and Need a Little Time.

chiming in to say i love this. hopefulessness, city looks pretty, and nameless faceless are the standouts to me. i like the like speedy ortizishness of the chorus in nameless faceless

Her concerts erased any complaints I had about the new album not rocking hard enough. The songs are so heavy live. Just amazing. I hope she puts out a live album.

Debating whether the slightly steeper ticket cost is worth it, but it's encouraging to hear her shows are good.
