I definitely like PTA movies about 15-20% more knowing that he's such a chill dude

How do people consider PTA as a screenwriter? I feel like people often talk about him as a director as if that would just automatically imply he's a great writer, but they don't necessarily go hand in hand.

for some christopher nolan took his kids to see this lol

And Paul’s movie (Phantom Thread), my wife and I made the strange decision to take our kids to go see it and, ever since, every time I do anything vaguely what they would call dictatorial, it’s, “Oh, Mr. Woodcock, are you a spy? Get out your gun. Do you have a gun?” I’ve been hearing that for weeks. And every time Emma cooks mushrooms now, there are huge hysterics.

PTA has talked about meeting Kubrick on the set of Eyes Wide Shut (he was there to see Tom Cruise about Magnolia) and pointed out that Kubrick warmed noticeably more to him after he found out he was a writer/director rather than just a director.
What became of her? She lived, as she liked to say, off the kindness of gentlemen. I assume she’s dead.

He says welsh rarebit, which is a thing people have for breakfast. As opposed to welsh rabbit, which is not a thing anyone has said for a hundred years or more.

Also in that conversation with Adam Buxton, PTA definitively says "welsh rarebit".

just saw this. hilarious movie and the fact that i found so much humor in woodcock probably robbed me of some of the emotional heft. but i look forward to subsequent viewings wherein i could unfold those layers.

i think everything's been covered in this thread, but did i imagine a really jarring artificial snowfall effect in one of those Alps dissolves? it was nice enough and i guess bolstered some of the film's screwball comedy touches but was a little on the nose maybe?

yeah there's a really strong snowfall transition at one point, can;t remember when, maybe when they kiss after they get the dress? it is a little weird, but i like it.
