dudes got his phd and taught college courses in like, hawaii, and i think now, minnesota. he rules and this album is great, but i don't think he obsessed for like 6 years making this thing.

lol

its just ok. it is a bit of a disappointment. sounds like b-sides from pre-pitiless censors era. i'm still enjoying it but not gonna pretend like a phd and teaching is an excuse or whatever.

still havent listened to this but his whole fucking thing was lo-fi, why stray from lo-fi when it fucking rules

i dano what synths he's talking about 'making' because he definitely just used the same kinda baroque setting kimball console organ on every song just like he always has. its neat that he threw in some triplet tom fills in here and there this time around though. it doesnt make me like the music any less, i just dont know what he's going on about frying circuits trying to electrically engineer some new synths that sound like his old cheese organ. maybe he just fumbled around trying his hand at copying the age-old schematic for those thangs. thats cool tho.

I waited to listen to the new record until my copy arrived. It felt a little underwhelming at first but his stuff always gets better with repeat listens (for me at least) so i've just been flipping it over and over again most of the afternoon/evening and its definitely really really great

pretty bummed the rest of the box set doesn't arrive for another 6 months

gave it some time, it's a really good album when you don't consider the expectations of a six year hiatus

screen memories was good, was a little jarring how stripped down it sounded after the six year wait but there's a lot of solid tracks

but ive listened to the new song multiple times, nothing on screen memories aside from maybe touchdown hooked me as much.

screen memories had some maus all-timers imo, "the people are missing", "decide decide", "walls of silence"

i mean there's nothing as frenzied & despondent as the best stuff on songs or love letters from hell but i wouldn't want more of the same & i'm happy john seems more at ease with himself nowadays

I don't want to make any apology, but I also didn't want to... The guys I met were nice. They weren't burning crosses or doing anything like that. In other words, I never had, from what I know about it, any indication that anything other than certain instances of a sort of trolling was going on. What did they do that made them Nazis? Maybe I haven't looked into it. Or why were they alt-right people?
