Favreau is supportive of leftists the second it carries no perceived risk and becomes convenient for him to do so

took my dad and sister to the central iowa dsa tonight. it was awesome--they were totally blown away at how many people showed up. i think it takes a certain amount of guts to openly attend dsa meetings in iowa--even des moines, and yet people were there warmly and enthusiastically. the earnestness of it all really did some good things for my headspace.

on monday about 50 of their members showed up to hand out leaflets to employees of a company that is profiteering from ICE contracts. the leaflets were examples of other companies that had done the same but stopped in protest, and they urged the employees to demand their employer do the same. pretty cool stuff.

i know that the world is totally fucked right now, totally fucked, but it was incredible to see my dad volunteering to do things. he's an old farming left-type of dude but he worked really hard to check personal pronouns and ask questions when he didn't know what things meant. i'm sure i could get my mom and stepdad to join, as they're champagne socialists already.

my mom very technically lives in pleasant hill, which is on the east side of des moines (the east side is very, very working class and considered "trashy") and one of the city council members here is a democratic socialist. pretty sure my mom is gonna run for a city council spot. she is the only person in her neighborhood who has a house without blue lights out front to support blue lives matter. :geek:

here's a damn cherry on top:

my sister must have talked to my mom and stepdad (they're on the last night of their vacation) because my stepdad texted me that the two of them want to go to the protest/rally on saturday and wants more info on dsa in general

so here is a pic of me, my new socialist sister, my stepdad, and LILI THE DOG:

Image

everyone should go to a dsa meeting. i'll post more lili if people do.

Gotta catfish Charlie Kirk one of these days. Have to use his personal cell phone number for something.

Since he has the same number he did as a teen, do y'all think his parents still pay his cell bills?

That’s awesome dude. Thanks for single-handedly bringing the mood of the thread back up. I’ve been hoping for some kind of local/state win since Doug Jones but it’s just not happening.

I have several DSA friends and am considering officially joining. I actually emailed a pretty well known constitutional law professor about it to see if it would hinder my career prospects (I know, I know but I’m trying to be admitted to a very conservative state bar right now and wasn’t sure if it was the kind of thing I’d need to report).

He was very supportive and said to go for it, unless they promote the violent overthrow of the government. I said they promote the overthrow of capitalism, but most don’t promote the idea of doing it via violent means. I think I’m going to officially join now.

Wild to see even Sarah Lerner getting excited about ACO.

Lili the Dog slays imo
For one, I don't want to be known as the guy who randomly goes around and fixes people's computers. Even though I do that.
