"those clown comics"

it really is written well. i think the problem actually may have been with duchovny primarily, yeah. he brought a sort of lightness to his performance in the original series that seemed absent in that scene, whether due to age or whatever else, it didn't play as well. his heart didn't seem in it. not a big deal, though, i was really excited we got to see him at all.

Wasn't this scene in episode 2?

Image

It was electrifying and terrifying, like "The Man Behind Winkie's"

After watching this scene, I remember thinking to myself: Dayenu, David Lynch, this alone would have sufficed!

when hawk's showing truman that map and truman asks about the evil/judy symbol, it sort of reminded me of this scene, particularly when he asks about the judy/evil symbol

another Marvel At Subjectivity moment was when someone came into the thread and said they thought the otis redding scene was the low point of the return

still am completely baffled by that one

i guess since we've mostly gushed about this thing, let's get negative and try and pin down an actual low point

off the top of my head i'm gonna go with:

seriously? that's probably one of my favorite moments of the entire season, i can't imagine not being moved in the slightest by it. in terms of trying to think of things i didn't actually like about twin peaks S3 (it's really hard to think of anything i didn't like about it), although i loved the individual scenes of Ben Horne interacting with his assistant, i didn't feel as if they added a ton to the plot

the way the otis redding tune drifts into the shots of the mountains then clouds and then that transitions in the nightbus powerlines and evil coop section

I'm still slowly making my way through this to really savor and every time I finish an episode i get so excited to rush over to the thread to see how everyone reacted and every time you argue about the fucking stupidest shit and it drives me insane. Just pages arguing about Lissie lip syncing fucking hell (performance ruled btw)

Just rewatched part 5 cuz of this thread and yeah it owns, lots of great moments like

1. Frank enjoying the green tea latte
2. Bad Coop prison freakout/Mr. Strawberry
3. Becky gets high/Paris Sisters song
4. Dougie statue end credits/"windswept"
5. Dougie holding his dick outside the bathroom/following the coffee smell around like a Looney Tunes cartoon

Slartisfgh is never mentioned in The Bible, but it is here, during one of the early battles, that Matthew spontaneously became liquid.
