Yes. Shacks. Get excited!

Soon it will be upon us. March 23, 7:20pm. The storied traditional season-opening clash between those two formidable titans, the mighty Bumblebees and the proud Azzurri. Hope it is more of a firecracker than wet pffft of last year's opener.

Has anyone caught any of the pres season games?

Anyone been getting into the AFLW?

Footy!

i've only watched the hawks v cats game but it's always fun to beat geelong after the siren

was kinda cool in the last 60 seconds watching hawthorn go into "oh shit there's only a minute left, we better start actually playing afl standard footy cos we don't like to ever lose" mode

i'm ready for the season to start. not sure yet but i think i'm a hawthorn supporter this year. feel better about them now their flag streak is over and mitchell is gone. we'll see though...

anyone want to do a ladder prediction? i'll give it a go!

GWS
Sydney
West Coast
Adelaide
Richmond
Geelong
Melbourne
St Kilda

Bulldogs
Collingwood
Hawthorn
Essendon
North Melbourne
Brisbane
Fremantle
Port Adelaide
Gold Coast
Carlton

- Richmond will have a good year (but lose their final)
- Bulldogs will have a premiership hangover (although i'm saying they only finish 2 spots lower than last year)
- Hawks won't be good. Odd to see people saying they will
- Bombers will show promise but fade late in season
- blues will be garbage but will be chalked up as the rebuilding year they need to have
- pies, suns, freo and power will all be looking for new coaches

Ambitious prediction for the tigers, mego. I think they'll be better than last year, but not much.

GWS
Sydney
Adelaide
Melbourne
St Kilda
Geelong
Bulldogs
West Coast

Port Adelaide
Collingwood
Essendon
Hawthorn
Richmond
Fremantle
Gold Coast
North Melbourne
Brisbane
Carlton

Probably the hardest year to predict for a long time, aside from GWS/Syd

hmmm, i'm thinking this will be a real interesting year. so many contenders for the final four spots in the eight, though i'm pretty convinced the top four will be GWS, sydney, dogs and then a toss up between adelaide and west coast. bombers are going be so hard to predict though i'm used to being frustrated as shit by them so at least they can't really unpleasantly surprise me. reckon geelong will slide heaps and be just outside the eight - picking melbourne to make the bottom rungs of the eight though of course they are so good at fucking with people's expectations. aaaaaaaaand, yes, more mediocrity from the pies and the tigers for sure.

some glimmers of hope for the blues tho. casboult actually slotted one. silvagni showed promise. weitering is going to be a monster.

obviously the better team won but it was pretty touch and go there for tiges fans in the 3rd quarter -- 30 points up against the blues, but you never know with Richmond

casboult is the purest of shit.

weitering, marchbank, plowman is a good backline and silvagni (and possibly mckay) gives them something to work with up forward. but they still have way too many spuds - Rowe, White, Casboult, Armfield, Smedts, Ed Curnow. Going nowhere fast with those guys.
