this might as well been the fourth season of Fargo, at least it was eight hours shorter.

there isn't an I, Tonya thread where I can complain about the Scorsese level soundtrack.

Got in a hearty debate with a coworker who lol put this as his top movie of the year and was super effusive about it for a week after seeing it. He literally couldn't understand any complaint I had about it and basically implied I just didn't get it.

martin mcdonagh is a pretty good playwright but i was really weirded out by this movie and the bad race stuff. it was filmed like two hours south of my hometown in the north carolina mountains, so i never once believed it looked like missouri. i guess that's the least of its problems though.

Birdman was pretty enjoyable in the theater while stoned. 3 Billboards in the theater while stoned was a bummer.

birdman was really really terrible but at least ambitious in its awfulness. this just sucked. both of the main characters are terrible people the entire movie and there's no one to root for, and if that's the point, they shouldn't try to convince me to give a shit emotionally about their spiritual or moral journeys. what is the fucking point of these character arcs. others have written more eloquently on the politics and clumsy racial overtones. needless to say, it was handled poorly

i think i may have only laughed at "well thanks anyway father for stopping in". i cannot imagine consistently laughing throughout this movie, it's baffling to me. maybe i just went in with the wrong headspace, but a "black comedy", man i just don't feel that at all
