I used to love Annie. I've seen her live a few times and the last time I saw her left a weird taste in my mouth. I think it was one of the David Byrne shows? Everything she did just seemed like such a put-on. And now that feeling has been amplified tenfold.

I have no interest in listening to this

i love st. vincent but haven't listened to a single note from this album just based off of everything visual presented from it.

if the videos/artwork are any indication this album must sound like her doubling down on that atrocious segment she turned in for XX

So you’re saying you love the artist but won’t listen to said artist’s new music based on artwork, though the music is presumably what made you like the artist in the first place

it's also been the constant stream of negativity regarding it on the board.

i'll get around to the album eventually. but i'm not excited in the least for it.

Finally got around to this album and I fucking love it. Was never a huge fan before despite liking some of her stuff over the years. Don’t really understand the scorn this album got. Maybe the expectations were for something very different?

The more I listen the more confused I am by the reception this album has gotten around here. Part of me feels like this is going to be rediscovered and reassessed later next year. It’s seriously impressive. Hang on Me almost sounds like early Liz Phair. Happy Birthday, Johnny could almost be a Fiona Apple song. Both meant as high compliments. The only song that doesn’t completely work for me is Savior, but even the end of that song is somewhat interesting. Love the guitar work throughout.

im open to the argument that, contrary to the brutal criticism, it is actually a brilliant & subversive critique of male imposed expectations on gender performance, pop culture and indie music starlets if someone wants to make it
