Ages 12-14 i was fucking OBSESSED with roller ciasters. At one point you could give me the name of any amusement in the us, europe or japan and i probably would have been able to name every major rollercoaster in it. www.themeparkreview.com was my first message board, i didn't post but i learned the joy of lurking. I went to most of the parks in my area but i guess the obsession fizzled out when i realized how difficult/expensive riding every cosster in the world wpuld be

roller coasters own

my motion sickness has gotten a lot worse in the past few years so I don't think I could see myself going on a big league one anymore. I used to go on them despite the occasional boot and rally

There are some people there who are so crazy about adding roller coasters to their 'count' that they'll bribe random kids at the park to go with them on the kiddie coasters that adults can only ride if they're supervising a kid

I think the last ride I went on was the original coney island cyclone which was pretty impressively rough and fast for something that old

my work just did a commercial for Luna Park at Coney Island, and i usually don't go on set (i'm an editor) but they needed extras so I joined along. this is me in the Cyclone car while they set up the camera rig. more people showed up after this picture was taken obv

it was an amazing morning. basically the entire park was closed and all the extras and I rode the Cyclone back-to-back-to-back 10 (!!!) times in a row. it's a really fun and iconic wooden coaster (shown prominently in the summer blockbuster hit spider-man!)

Image

this is the final spot, if you live in NYC you might see it on TV once in a while

I'm BARELY in it, as i marked up below, but who cares, it was a fun day and was infinitely better than being in the office. the couple in the front were paid actors and the rest were just friends and extras. we got dunkin donuts craft services which was cool

I used to go to Six Flags about 15 times each summer. It would be raining half the time which meant all of the rides were shut down.

i haven't been to my local amusement park in almost ten years now despite the fact that they have like 6-7 rollercoasters there. it's just too darn expensive!

They gave me two tickets to Luna Park for participating, they are 4 Hour Unlimited Ride wristbands

i probably won't use em, so if any NYC boarders want to take a date or a friend to coney island this summer, just PM me and they're yours.

Going to theme parks has been the reason for 50% of the trips I've taken to the States so far. When I went to Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio) it had at the time the tallest and the third tallest coasters in the world, Top Thrill Dragster which was like a drag racing theme and Millennium Force which was Y2K themed.
