New Graphic Design Thread

The primary forum for general discussion of Hipinion.com

Postby skeet happening » Mon Dec 21, 2009 3:27 am

New thread for graphic design hipioneers. I didn't contribute much to the last thread mainly cause I do mostly non-compelling web based stuff right now, but I had a good time reading it and some of the resources posted were helpful. I'm interested if there any new boarders who do various forms of design.

If fonts get uploaded and such I can update this first post with links and generally try to make the thread useful. So yeah, share your stuff in this thread.

yeah sometimes it's arguable whether it's worth getting a degree in gd since most clients will simply view your folio and go from there but in the end it seemed worth it, should be able to get into the industry a little quicker as well hopefully

nah. we had some requests in the last incarnation of the thread, so I thought it would make sense if tried to collect them.

as far as the actionscript goes let me PM you to see if you can help. I hope it's pretty simple.

thanks!. Yeah I was actually checking out your web page the other day, I saw both of your poetry posters, they're both pretty neat. It's a really cool way to play with typography.

thanks man. what do you think of the site? there are some things in there i need to take out.. its just sub par. im trying to figure out a way to organize it better... i dont know if the "by project" categorization is good or if i should separate it some other way

I like it. I think with design there's always going to be a couple of older pieces that you don't "feel as much." But that's just because you're constantly getting better, and growing. I wouldn't by any means call it sub-par.

Yeah that's a tough one on how to organize it. I've kind of been going through this too, however I just have a thing on behance. I still need to create a site. I finally decided to go with piece by piece/project by project, until I beef up my portfolio more. It felt a little underwhelming to me to have a category that says logos, only to have 3 logo's.

I just finished up the album art for an epic metal band but I'm too ashamed of it to post it here. It was one of those projects where halfway through it I entirely regretted agreeing to do it due to the direction they wanted to take with it. I did my best to make it decent...

The problem was that they had an "artist" they wanted me to incorporate the work of and it was a fiasco because the sketches were really really lame.

I have a lot of other work but it'd reveal my employer which I'm cautious about doing here.
