Inspired by the psychedelic films and scary children's films threads:

What are some lesser-known animated films from the 80s and 90s? Foreign, forgotten, etc. Preferably darker in tone. Examples:

Penguin's Memory (mentioned in another thread)

Felidae

Night on the Galactic Railroad

one of the most vaporwave films of all time. the evil vocaloid plot is extremely prescient in 2017. music by yoko kanno of cowboy bebop fame. recommend it to anyone.

not sure that's a deep cut though. It's known. But it's one of the very few anime i love. Might help i saw it around the time it was out. Well maybe 96. so i do have nostlagia for it. And yeah i have the soundtrack in my mp3's

i think thats all for the moment bvut i wanna second opi's little nemo suggestion and add unico to it if it counts. i think unico's decently popular too but i remember a lot of people here having seen it as kids, it sticking with them, and then not remembering what it was called so sure.

i fit this group, it was on disney channel all the time

Two children follow Thor and Loki to Valhalla and on a quest to Útgarðar. This was a favourite when I was a kid, and served as a solid introduction to norse mythology.

ferngully is a classic. me and my partner just blared the raffi song from it, "raining like magic", not even an hour ago, because it's so good.
