was there a thread about the nexus 7/ nexus q?

the 7 looks nice, will definitely be tempting once they revise it and make it sexier. the nexus q seems like it costs 3x as much as an apple tv and does about the same thing.

There's a Google I/O 2012 thread.

The non-beta Chrome is working great for me (finally) on my TFP. Nice upgrade from the stock browser.

Instagram pics seem to have a standard 612x612 resolution, while HTC's software can do 3264x1840. Is there an option somewhere to up the Instagram res or is it just a dumb app in this respect?

Instagram says they only support uploads at 612x612, but should save the full-res pictures locally.

Nah, they fixed it. Everything is functional, including the wifi (that was what was wonky for a bit). Obviously when source is released, that's what we will get the good stuff but the current port is fully functional. Not bad considering it's only been a day.

evidently, but only in degree, not kind
like the gap between gingerbread and ics is way bigger than ics and jelly bean, but apparently jellybean is really smooth (?)

http://www.theverge.com/2012/7/3/3134347/android-4-1-jelly-bean-review

tl;dr

- google now - sort of a siri competitor. has 'cards' for most searched info like sports team scores and shit. reviews say it's better at search and just knowing what you want based on your history, but weaker at natural language queries. which should basically be obvious, but whatever
- less lag/stutter
- expandable notifications - have to wait for 3rd party apps to implement these
- can turn off notifications on a per app basis
- some other minor app improvements to google apps that will probably trickle down to ics users soon enough.

it's v 4.0 to v 4.1
so nothing super major. google now is probably the biggest thing. i would like expandable notifications though for emails and messages

i'm running the jelly belly ROM. so much more smooth than ICS. Google Now is pretty cool. camera and sorting through pictures makes more sense now.

Jellybean source (4.1.1) is officially released. Only a matter of time before devs give us some sexy JB roms.

Carriers not immediately pushing out new ROMs is so stupid
I mean, I get why they don't, but like
Come on you pieces of shit, no one is really gonna plop down $500 for a new phone w/o upgrade so they're your customers for 2-3 years anyway

most of them do it because they have their own retarded custom UI that they have to test before releasing

the nexus items only delay until the release of an official flagship device for that release (in this case Nexus 7). So it's often like 1-4 days later.
