"dum surfer" feels like a song of the year contender

Dem Surfer is definitely an outstanding track in this somewhat tedious album, but im really into his use of ambiance on everything and the mostly instrumental tracks like Sublunary and The Cadet Leaps, are really really good. overall, id say this dude is alright.

cadet limbo is tight. yeah i think it's the "free-speak" poet style of the vocals is kind of a hinderance compared to the zoo kid demos where it seemed like there was concrete melodies/more of a structure. i guess he's just more into production.

anyways this album is interesting at least and i could see myself liking it a lot more after some more spins

i feel like this is v accomplished and yea probly a bit indulgent, but i'm lovin it.
(perhaps not coincident to my enjoyment - we're having our first rain in mtl since 10 Sept as i listen to this staring pensively out a window).

yeah i like how far it's reaching, actually. there's some good ideas here. the locomotive sounding (sorta) like a pixies riff transmitted into some uk garage/dub thing

it's a nice little pre-cursor to some of the stuff going on here, but his rapping and lyricism has improved by leaps and bounds since.

i actually never thought i'd enjoy him in rap mode as much as his usual balladeer thing but "biscuit town" proves me totally wrong.
