We locked eyes. Apparently if you look at a dog in the eyes and do this, you can hurt its balls. So I did that. And he — we had a moment, and he looked away.

This album is great.

Whoever said that Pierre is the torch carrier of cloud rap is on point. Does Fell in Luv sample main attrakionz legion of doom??

Apparently telephone calls by asap mob also samples legion of doom (I can’t pick it tho) and carti was on that track

like, do you have an insiders insight into cartis process? do you know his role in an album coming into being? do you know that he doesn’t symbiotically collaborate with pierre and others to generate the overall vibe of his music? do you know that he doesn’t make editorial decisions with respect to beats, guest verses, hooks, backing vox, that he doesn’t make sequencing decisions, that he isn’t a perfectionist?

would these questions be moot if he was more Lyrical?

what is this patronizing bullshit

Bourne even gets two verses, because really almost any voice will suffice on music like this

im guessing the dork that wrote the review doesnt actually like it his editor probly told him it has to be bnm bc pf has to pay lip service to rap once in a while. it says its his “official debut” which is just totally wrong unless im missing something

i'm doubling down on the anti-carti stuff because i know it makes you guys upset...my official stance is carti certainly works great on some songs, but his style wears thin quickly (to me anyway, but i get the appeal), i love this album idc, but it could be better (with less carti and like triple the amount of uzi and thug)

how its "positioned" by the label
whether a physical edition exists on the street date

its pretty arbitrary

yeah this is fine. i just recoil at the naive and weird/shitty take implicit in positing carti as some idiot who happens into making good albums simply bc you deem his rap style puerile or whatever

well that was never really my take, i was just trying to make jokes about how he's bad at rapping (a sentiment i don't even fully agree with in the first place). i'm pretty dumb so i don't often engage with music in a way where i think about every decision that goes into making it. i definitely don't think carti is an idiot, he's clearly savvy, the entire vibe/aesthetic of the project is very Cool, plus he has a heartagram tattoo (best rapper tat since yg's flameboy). i guess i will wait for the die lit blu-ray with the making of featurette before making any other posts.
