Literally thousands of people using bots to buy out limited stock immediately with relatively 0 risk. Supreme has always been a safe investment from a reselling perspective, so there's no real reason not to buy as much as possible.

oh i know, this is the first season where i literally have not been able to get anything remotely hyped and i could really use the extra couple hundred dollars i'd get from reselling, but uh...you know of any good bots??

The captcha stuff is actually to stop the bots. Most bots are being killed by Supreme quite well to the point it's affecting regular things like autofill and they're banning a lot of credit cards.

Like I'm pretty sure I've been banned for using autofill, they don't care if they're indiscriminate bans as things sell out in 15 seconds anyway. Haven't been able to get anything since the Scarface drop and now pretty certain I won't be getting a bogo. Been spending all my free cash on Palace instead.

ill never understand how theres this many ppl willing to pay $1k for shoes and $500 for a shirt nowadays. $150 shirts and $500 shoes used to feel like a lot not too long ago but then the price just kept going up somehow even though i dont get how theres demand

Those are probably the most expensive out of all the hyped Supreme items. Like they retail for $150 to 250 and resale for over $1k. 40 of them is a downpayment of a house.

yea it's strange that the brand still has any cachet whatsoever given how ubiquitous it's become. I mean like 10-12 years ago it was still very hard to buy anything but you just didn't have it IN YOUR FACE everywhere you went. I've seen 3 students on campus today with the same BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY down jacket. And they all probably paid reseller prices for that.

I don't even know why I keep posting Supreme stuff in here, I prefer Palace any day of the week. Tho I'm mad at Palace as I missed out on the Adidas teeshirt last week.

It's pretty cheap as far as "in the know" brand labels go meaning it's accessible for a lot of kids. Like its easy for them to pick up a few $40 shirts each season rather than try to get one $300 OffWhite one or whatever. That coupled with the notion its easy to make a few bucks on resale on pretty much anything they put out (it's not) means they sell out quick which in turn makes it more hyped. Like I doubt many people are walking around decked head to tow in Supreme aside from the instagram/youtube hypebeasts.

Also if you're seeing it everywhere now remember it's also widely faked.

Going a little further into history, early on Supreme did have a genuinely unique spot in the market. They were a skate brand pushing luxury product. They had pretty brilliant marketing (early catalogs are fantastic, collabos were genuinely intriguing [look up the old Rammelzee stuff!!],they would generally do a handful of bootleg items that would get them sued and build up some notoriety, wheatpaste campaigns were big etc). They relied heavily on word of mouth among Lower East Side arts folks and kept it pretty NY centric without alienating the skate scene. It was that border zone of skater/artist that made it so "cool", as well as the sense of exclusivity/"attitude" the staff used to cop with patrons that gave it this kind of edge. Also, they used to use high quality sources for all their blanks (Wings and Horns/CYC used to make almost all of it, very little was not made in Canada/USA) so they were held in high esteem by streetwear folks of the time. All that has eroded with time and exposure, but I still keep some of the old stuff around for posterity's sake.

back in the day we all used to skate fairfax and that was a chill hangout zone for everyone, way before the odd future kids blew up the spot and the rest was history

hmm. granted I haven't skated in about 10 years, but I don't remember any of the skate crews I'd hang with being that interested in anything Supreme at all. this was in socal though, I guess maybe the brand was bigger and more influential on the east coast then
