this is me but with the dancer of the boreal valley in ds3, and i've beat ds1 at least 3 times, and bloodborne and ds2. what gives?

man i was not having a great time with the duke's archives tonight. im at the point where i need to run around the balconies with the two channelers and it's just enormously unfun. i should probably stop trying to fight again. everything does a bunch of damage, those crystal hollows' shoulder-bash thing is very annoying

ive gotten (what feels to be) super solid at parrying, but at the cost of never being able to backstab anymore. idk what happened. i think it has something to do with the position of the specific weapons im using, esp the scythe and the sks. it's gotten to the point where ill actually wait for them to reset and swing at me so i can parry/riposte because at least i can land that

i am really bad at fighting o&s. got there last night and made three pathetic attempts before deciding to call it a night. i really want to try to solo them, but i'll probably end up summoning. i think the best i've ever done was beating them on like my 10th try or something.

hmmm, i think i usually take out ornstein first. i'll try to go for smough and see how that works out.
one of my problems was trying to use the lightning spear, which did so little damage. i broke out some fire orbs and they did a lot more. just got so used to poking everything with that spear and forgot i'm playing pyro.

nvm if i just run it it's totally fine. i guess it's kinda nice that (it seems like) the game is teaching or encouraging me to just run it in areas that i havent even been in yet, but it does make zones feel a little anticlimactic

also the bridges are extremely lit up with signs right now.praise my gamer brethren

it's funny I think playing bloodborne first was good training for o&s but I think I'm still on artorias after something like 50+ tries

ive only tried it twice but the seath fight is really stinking so far. getting huge framerate drops (havent gotten any elsewhere in the game on this computer), it has the 'attacking some random appendage of a big monster that you cant even see' thing, he just kind of glides around the space without any real presence or weight. ew!

i wasnt able to get seaths tail until this year. i had done just about everything else you could do before you got it.

i'm surprised fox is having such a hard time with artorias because i feel like the basic design of that boss is recycled quite a few times in the later games.

people say to let him break the crystal (which i can do) and then to run around behind him and hit his tail (which i do)

but i can only hit it once or twice before he un-stuns usually, and that's not enough

it also forces me to get right up on his tail, which has the really obnoxious trait of changing from a non-damaging object into a damaging object instantly and with no tell that i can see. it'd happen with gaping dragon too—you'd be on his legs and it'd be fine, then he'd "start" his walk-forward attack thing, and if your collider was touching his you'd be damaged and thrown back before the animation for the walk had actually begun

it just feels like all the worst tropes of the game's boss fights in one enemy idk. gotta get that tail

Seath is a pretty badly designed fight. He's not super tough as a whole but he's not that fun either and the tail is a pain in the ass. You have to be careful to hit his tail far enough from his body - closer to his body it's easy to hit what you think is the tail and have it not count.

One of the best ways to get the tail is with upgraded pyro: let him destroy the crystal, run around behind him, and hit him a couple times with a good spell and that should do it.

ive only played a couple minutes of ds3 but i like the way it handles jumping so much more. trying to slow out of a run so that you roll instead of jumping feels like a pretty mushy process

Hah I always change the jump back to the old style in the later games. I hate pressing in the control stick.

Jumping is real dicey either way.

New Londo is one of my low key favorite little areas. The gloomy atmosphere just feels so thick and oppressive, and the gimmicks are really well done.

I think that I was just underleveled when I got to the DLC, in my current playthrough I'll probably wait to tackle him

and yeah, his timing is weird relative to other DKS1 bosses, but is definitely redone in the Abyss Walkers and even Orphan in some ways

I remember being surprised when I beat Orphan the first time, too

the level design is pretty neat so far, i just find the ghosts-traveling-through-walls thing to be not my favorite kinda combat

im glad that they're keeping me stocked in transient curses so far tho

This and Sens are my favorite non-DLC parts of the game, and the ones that seem most directly a nod to Zelda games.
