I've gotten the passive versions of those before but the other night in New Londo was the first time I ever got a hostile one. Freaked me the hell out especially since I was farming and knew there shouldn't have been anything attacking me when stuff started shooting at me out of nowhere.

GREAT sound design in this area, jesus

maybe this is just because ive been using it all game and im getting fatigued, but i feel like the scythe is starting to get kinda long in the tooth. its damage seems really good but i feel like on any fights i dont initiate with dashing r1, i frequently wind up poise-tanking a hit before i get control. which maybe wouldnt be a big deal but im trying to be squishy. even if i take the time to dodge every attack, i sometimes have to wait really long for an opening that one of my slow attacks can slip through

then ill switch to the uchi and suddenly those cautious back-and-forths are easy as hell, i can just blow in there and start attacking

what the hell

this is the first time ive watched play back, it's kinda wild

i miss the same r2 a few times which is a little embarrassing. im gonna blame it on the fact that id been drinking a bit

really sick fight though. love the timing on all his aerial moves and that dash-thrust, wish more bosses felt so clean

am still a little curious about some of the variance in his moves. the first couple times i tried to beat him i could swear he only ever did 1 or 3 somersaults at a time but he does 2 in this one, which threw me off. he also seems to cancel one of his sweeps into a roll-away which i dont think i'd seen before, was wondering what the deal with that was

good boss

the dlc in this might be the best dlc of all time and makes up for the second half of the game being not as good as the first i feel like.

last night i made it past the chained pots and pans man (couldnt really damage him so i just ran past him) and down to the very scary bofnire where i said ok fuck this

now im back in the duke's archives. i duped souls for the first time so i could buy all big hat's spells so i could get his hat. unfortunately i got oneshot the first time i actually followed him to seath's room, which put me back in the fucking spiral staircase room. this is quickly becoming my least favorite area in the game!

Good fight, that got pretty tense at the end. I love beating a boss with just a little health left where any hit could just end it. Artorias is one of my favorites too. They knew they did a good job with him because they've used him as an inspiration and template for lots of future bosses. The one on one duel bosses became a staple after him. You've got 2 more equally good but very different bosses waiting in the DLC too.

I like Dukes Archives but some of the back and forth logistics of it are annoying. It needs a couple more shortcuts to cut through the bullshit once you've finished it.

i just feel like im at the point where i could draw a map of the interior, complete with enemy spawns, and yet i cant reliably run through it and just ignore enemies. it feels like so many crystal soldiers totally block the passageways they're standing in, and the crystal archers deal so much damage, that i just have to take it really slowly every time. which isnt the end of the world, it's just not a very gratifying experience compared to the rest of the game's "once you've been through once, you can sprint through no problem" design
