it's not so much about adopting a constitution or bylaws or whatever, but rather you want some of these logistic questions ironed out so people don't get mad after the fact

its a living doc as far as i'm concerned.
and its also deliberately loose to allow for discretion and judgment of mods.
There’s no path to a satisfying conclusion at this point.

yeah but it's a lot easier to laugh them off or tell them to fuck off when you have something ironclad to show nothing untoward occurred

I’m not sure what specifically people are mad about, nor do I particularly care
But most people agreed bluemoon would make a great mod. Good news! She is one. We didn’t have a procedure in place (for all the reasons everyone is freaking out about us putting a procedure in place) and she temp banned nefarious, there was uproar about nef being unceremoniously banned, we put a procedure in place and followed it, and the end result was a very beautiful and moving banning ceremony (close friends and family only) during which the mods voted that nef stays banned for [checks wrist] 6 more days? Something like that
Don’t be a shithead and you won’t get banned
Being an accidental shithead won’t get you banned
Being acerbic won’t get you banned
Intentionally acting like an asshole over and over again, particularly if you target the same person/people, will get you banned

Word.
This is why I'm glad the mod/admin team is larger now. Diffuse the impact of dealing with this and hopefully keep people from getting burned out on the task quite so quickly.

Having bylaws would be sick because when ever something happens in accordance with the bylaws they can say “It’s in the bylaws” and slam their fist or gavel down
