I figured out the best way to go with most of the later questions is to choose the most ridiculous sounding option. Subatomic muons? Sure.

I’ve failed to identify the point when they switch from obvious to tricky and keep second guessing myself.

i think a single person won $1500 a few weeks ago, but most are split and yield low payouts like that

sometimes at work people get into groups and play at 3pm and someone happened to walk by one of the groups and was like "hey, i know that voice, what are you guys doing?" and someone showed her their phone screen and was like "were playing hq" and her response was "oh my god, i fucked that guy last year"

this is a really interesting theory, but i'm not sure if i buy it. like there's gotta be a simpler way to load test (even novel) networking tech, than create a well-produced, twice-a-day live trivia game show

It's not very well-produced though, Scott's just really good

sure but there aren't really simpler ways that can incentivize VCs to pour zillions into hot flashy load tests

yea, i see what you mean in terms of the content. i guess i'm talking more about the infrastructure (apart from the networking tech) and people needed to put on something like this. it really isn't trivial. i've seen a lot of similar live things being produced at my job, which is why i think this it's massive overkill for load testing networking tech

i think it can be true that they wanted to create an app to analyze engagement and also to develop and test scaled networking tech for our black mirror future

i agree it can be true, i just don't buy it yet
the founders are twitter/vine guys. i know it's simplistic, but i'd say they're looking to do what they know, which is get massive user numbers and move into advertising. i'd have a better time believing the networking tech theory if the founders were top-tier engineers. i looked at the linkedin profiles of some of their engineers and i'm sure they are good, but i just don't see a team that would be building what the facade would be covering for.

i got booted from the $10k game last night on q1 even though i answered it right. i wasn't the only one, people in the chat were livid.
i was really expecting them to do another game but it never happened.

Don't worry about it, the split on that game was about $1.50 for each winner. On the other hand, tonight's regular $2k game was particularly savage and the split was $155 for each winner.

i've joined in before it's started a couple times and it said i'd already lost. it's not very clear about the cut-off... and the lag the last few days has been "wait for the screen to change from the countdown to the question... and then read it to yourself while the host's audio is still 5 minutes behind.. then it returns to the frozen countdown screen with 2:00 minutes left on it" -- until about question 7
it seems to work better on iphone?
