I like how both this and TFA get our new friends in the falcon turrets and I like how the layout of the falcon turrets still makes no goddamn sense

One of the most interesting ideas was the endless line of Reys in the cavern, with the slight delay between each of them.

one one hand i really liked this and on the other i was disappointed it didnt take more chances. crait was a let down after the climax in the throne room and i wish instead it had positioned the film to end on a more ambiguous note. adam driver was fucking incredible in the throne room,, though

He might as well have looked into the camera and said “Looks like hoth, right? Get this, it isn’t hoth and this isn’t even snow. You’re probably wondering what it is...”

Yeah this was really maddening and probably responsible for like 30% of the bloat. I woke up feeling the same way I did last night, so maybe I should spend the rest of the morning thinking of things I did like about it.

I loved this film but the salt line was so incredibly stupid and is still making me laugh to myself.

Laura Dern reminded me of Sarah Champion which annoyed me a bit.

I love how those red knights put up a good fight. I was legitimately terrified the entire time, didn't feel like your typical disposable hoard of henchmen.

so star wars nerds all over the internet are genuinely angry and upset that rey's parents are nobodies and snoke is (probably) no one special either. those are literally the best possible outcomes for those 'mysteries', I was so relieved. I can't imagine how lame it would be if rey or snoke were related to the skywalkers/obiwan/palpatine

I've seen 'betrayal to the OT' thrown around and speculations that rian johnson secretly hates star wars. I hate nerds so much

Then again, I thought the salt thing was more an assistant-director cameo gag than any sort of exposition, but apparently that was just a coincidence of names.

Well, the guy next to the "Salt!" guy is Gareth Edwards.

Who was kinda relegated to AD on his own film.

And the character on his other side was named Frendo Pee, so who knows what they were going for with that scene!

Loved the movie, and good to see that most of the regulars from the Star Wars thread are also on board.

Loved the shoulder wipe. Thought both Sabre battles were better than the TFA ones.

Loved what they did with the Rey parents reveal, though I’m still not sure what was the point of Luke’s lightsaber “calling out” to Rey. I’m guessing it has to do with Rey being strong with the force and the Sabre having lots of Force reaidue since it was used by two Skywalkers?

yeah i can understand why people don't like this, but that gesture works just as well outside of the current cultural context so i think it's believable as a cool badass move in that universe

The transition from getting used to PTSD Vet Luke to Jesus Luke was awesome.

I demanded Jedi Master Luke in combat and I got it. Much more like I imagined the Jedi in their prime than what we got in the PT.

And his little staff fight with Rey was great.

I couldn't tell if he used the Force to stop himself from falling on the stone steps. That's what I presumed from the focus on his hands.

I think the one thing that irked me and I don't think it was mentioned was how cool Leia was about Luke going out to murder her son.
