I suck at Golf so bad.

I went to play golf today, with my brother-in-law, his dad, and his uncle.

They were all like near par. I was closer to 10 strokes a hole.

My brother in law is a golf wizard and played golf for his college team. He got a 72 today.

I got probably a 200. We stopped counting after a while.

It's strange because I am not unathletic. I was on the Rugby and Fencing teams at university. I am an avid flyfisherman. I shouldn't suck so bad.

But I do.

This was also my first official golf match ever. I have played scrambles before, where the objective is drinking and it doesn't matter where the ball ends up.

But I hate real golf. And I suck so bad at it.

What do you suck at?

It seems like you shouldn't be too hard on yourself if this is the first time you've played golf where you had to care where the ball was going

In terms of doing things for the first time the thing I'd be worst at would be rapping.

Zero hand-eye coordination when it comes to swinging for contact. I can catch and throw just fine, but I have never been able to hit a baseball (can't even toss a ball into the air and hit it), always whiff when trying to serve in tennis, and can't connect with with a golf ball.

i see what you mean, MIC, but i have no wish to be a singer in that sense. it's more a matter of singing along to songs i like, and not being satisfied with the results.

Pool. I always think it's gonna be fun but then as soon as I take my first shot, I rememeber how horrible I am at it.

When I was in high school I thought I'd get good at pool so I started going to the local bowling alley to practice. Then a hurricane ripped off the roof of the bowling alley. So I stopped practicing.
plz if u get a chanse put some flowrs on algernons grave kthxbye

i dont know, i dont tend to try to do things i suck at. But the thing is if you've not done a thing a lot or at all then you're supposed to suck at it. Like i suck at drawing but i also never actually draw. I didn't practice it ever. So i guess it's a given i'd suck at it. It's kinda like gf saying she sucks at guitar because she tried it for a few days. Yeah i sucked at guitar too after just a few days. So did everyone.

I have to say i probably suck at video games despite having done them all my life for hundreds of thousands of hours. I'm just not much into twitch gaming and never have been except when it's all there was. Like i did a playtest at ubisoft montreal once for one of the Assassin's creed games so they have us there all day and there's like x amount of content we had to play through and EVERYONE was done like 2 hours before i was. I'd played a bunch of AC games before and frankly they're pretty easy. Yet i was 2 hours late on the content. That's when i realised i probably sucked at games (i dont play competitive games almost ever so it's hard to gauge my skill level) On the other hand i dont know, there are a few games i can think of in my life i was competitively good at but not before i had played hundreds of hours. So perhaps i'm just slower at getting good than others.

math, drawing and technical stuff. I can fix my car when it breaks down, done it many times and can play the piano, mandolin, bass drums etc, but the engineering brain does not exist in me. even when i was a kid, i couldnt figure out how to build legos without instructions and stuff, even though other kids all could.

i can't even hit the damn cue ball properly most of the time
We locked eyes. Apparently if you look at a dog in the eyes and do this, you can hurt its balls. So I did that. And he — we had a moment, and he looked away.

i got invited to a round of golf a few months ago. to prepare, i went to a local driving range. i think maybe the longest shot was ~20 yards. tried every club. shanked it every time. needless to say, i bailed on that golf game.

this is a hard one to answer cause anything i've sucked at i've immediately disengaged from

like a reflex...disengage from that which you suck

is the lesson

I seem to do each piece backwards at least once before doing it right.
