I relistened to Brighten the Corners the other night and it's much better than I remembered. I think I overplayed the first two songs for myself, if it weren't for that it would be in the running for my favorite

i always really liked type slowly off BTC for some reason but i haven't tried to relisten to the album as a whole in years

i think the last time i did was when i was having a big lets active phase & read that mitch easter produced BTC, which i still think is pretty cool

Yeah I've heard that one Slanted song and New Face in Hell back to back but also my favorite songs on Slanted are the least Fall-y

I wish I was around in the 90s to see all the cool bands. Unwound, buncha Riot Grrrl bands, Polvo, Dino Jr, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Silver Jews, 80s Fall I guess.

Saw Pavement 6 times in a week when they reunited though lol. 4 nights in Brixton, 1 time Spiral Stairs solo in some pub after a show, 2 nights at ATP..

The only other person I can think of who moves in and out of melodies like this is Dan Bejar

I love both!

SM tried to start a fight with me in Germany when I was 17 because he thought I was German? but he seems like a good dude these days. Bob kept things from coming to blows when he recognized my friend from a tour they did with Bedhead (he was their roadie/driver). Later we had beers and made fun of Kannberg. Good band!

Wowee Zowee left me cold for the longest time, but then one day it just...clicked. I don't know what changed, but it's been my favorite Pavement album for years now.

Them ripping off The Fall has been overstated. Just because Malkmus yelled on some of the early songs?

I think Slanted and Enchanted is definitely an "Inspired by The Fall" album but I think they quickly became their own thing

most of the fall ripoffs are spiral's songs

our singer is just hip priest, yeah, but malkmus admitted that and that it was just a filler track anyway. conduit for sale, maybe. otherwise, eh.

Yeah, after S+E they interpolated their Fall influence into their own thing but it was still present in their visual art and lyrical content. On S+E, though, it's definitely on full display.
