i am such a wimp with spooky movies that a lot of times i try to look up spoilers ahead of time and also see if there's jumpscares, but it seems like the plot twistiness/mystery of this is kinda the point? maybe i'll get some of my horror-nerd friends to watch with me so i'm not by myself

i watch a lot of horror, and a lot of it really scares me. i scare easy. so i have a thing i do where if I'm watching and it feels like really scary stuff is gonna happen, i look at the top right hand corner of the screen and blur my eyes a bit. so it looks like I'm still watching but actually I'm averting my eyes.

little tip for all my fellow horror weenies there
astonishing vigils

this looks like it's gonna have a lot of same elements of the wan/blum movies, which is sudden background movements, fucked up 'black hole sun' faces, spooky kids, fakeout jumps scares followed by *real* jump scares, loud on-the-nose soundtrack

this looks like it will be good like conjuring was good, which is to say pretty good but let's not get too worked up about it

i haven’t watched the trailer but yeah this is a good characterization of this kind of movie (e: meaning the kind blacksugar is describing, not Hereditary, which i know nothing about)

ready for american horror movies to have a Shift. it follows was good but otherwise the last few years have been not so hot imo

the fact that so many of these elements are introduced in the trailer leads me to believe that that's not what this movie is about at all actually

yeah all the scary trailer parts are in the opening credits and then it becomes a coming of age comedy set in 1950s queens

Who legitimately thought IT was going to be great? I mean, it was fine. I enjoyed it. But I wasn't expecting actual horror out of it.

Look, I'm sorry, Blacksugar. You're going to poop your pants and your date is going to walk out of the theater and you're going to be ruined.

I feel like there was a lot of hype from people who fondly remembered the miniseries and thought, ok awesome now we get a real r-rated version of this thing
