Latest plot rumor for the First Order is that Kylo Ren is dealing with a mole in the First Order. I'm assuming the Resistance keeps slipping away from them or something and he figures out there's a leak somewhere.Toggle Spoiler

So basically a Scum & Villainy / Smugglers & Scoundrels show with someone who looks like Boba Fett but isnt, so that they don't have to cast a Maori actor.

this is cool

autotranslation left intact..
It’s a bit of a bomb that just fell on the net, no more or less!

The always very well informed Patrice Girod has found us an online version of the documentary unpublished and at least still not found today of the documentary of French Michel Parbot during the shooting of the Empire counterattack. We had presented exclusively this documentary, which we had restored from a source of which we silence the name out of respect for confidentiality, at the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2 in Essen and which we had detailed in this article.

It is neither more nor less than Adywan (yes the one who reproduced the classic trilogy by bringing an innumerable batch of modifications to make it even more faithful than the originals of George Lucas) that is the origin of this bomb that will make date!

Apparently Adywan has recovered a DVD from an NTSC scan from a Frenchman who won an auction a reel copy of the documentary…

To tell you the truth, it is a veil that rises on the most mysterious documentary of the last forty years. Knowing that this documentary was snatched at gold price of word of mouth, I advise you to watch this fabulous testimony of the filming of this masterpiece of the Saga…

that's amazing. and the kind of stuff Lucasfilm tries to keep hidden for whatever reason (probably to keep Lucas's revisionism). Will download and keep that one for a while.

at 42 minutes there's some pretty fascinating (if you're an uber nerd) stuff on how they did the go-motion with the AT-ATs and the computerised camera system
12 servos controlling various aspects programmed in beforehand, so much work

As I said after TFA and TLJ, I just don't know how much more you can do with the whole Empire/Rebels First Order/Resistance trope.

Ren will be leader now. Is this going to be a Sith-y kinda thing where he's focused on wiping out the Jedi, etc, or is it going to be more militaristic? He should be the unquestioned leader, so how do you have conflict in Kylo Ren's situation?

The Resistance was like 20 people or whatever at the end of TLJ. I'm assuming this will be a few years later and they've repopulated their ranks, otherwise we're going to have a relatively small military force (The First Order) again trying to wipe out an unbelievably-small military force (The Resistance) and it will be painful to watch that play out again.

At least in the OT you had the sense the Rebels had some decent numbers, and then they get the chance to blow up Palpatine on DSII, so with him removed, you can play out the remaining conflict.

With the new films it just seems like these extremist groups chasing each other around. Yeah they blew up the Republic capital planet but it's not like they took over as the Empire.

The conclusion of The Last Jedi actually would have been a good conclusion to the entire trilogy. If I'm Abrams, I'm thinking "now what?", and the reports from Isaac saying it's much looser and more improvisational on set this time around makes perfect sense.

yeah I don't need this much movie

call me silly but I never go more than 4GB for a movie and that's gonna be alltime greatest (like star war)

When a film is professionally scanned in 16-bit color as DPX image files, every single frame weighs in at 100 MB. With upwards of 175,000 frames in each film, a complete scan requires about 21 TB of storage (42 TB if you want a backup copy! And then you need at least another 21 TB of space to work on it - over $1000 just in hard drives is therefore required for every film).

also I would like to visit youtube and burn this video and then visit the man who made it (I assume it's a man, I haven't watched it) and burn him too
I know the point of this is to be clickbait to incite nerd rage but I see it pop up in my recommended's every time I watch a wars vid and it's symptomatic of everything I hate about youtube

did anyone else see that recent YouTube video that compares the history of Star Wars with the history of schisms in cultures and religions? It had pretty slick production values so it must have been some media blog or one of those slick video essays guys. I think I watched it when I wasn’t signed in so it’s not in my history and it’s basically impossible to find by searching and it’s driving me insane

yeah fuck, my recc'd youtubes are a nightmare thanks to star wars (especially because i keep masochist-clicking on them).

today i watched a trailer for a fan edit that is attempting to cut out laura dern entirely by pasting admiral ackbar over her and using Some Guy to do a voice impression

also i don't have a 4k tv but i have multiple files ranging from 18gb to 23gb just for different editions of anh alone :ugeek:

The 2-3 years leading up to ANH are probably where the universe is at its best, tbh, so I'm totally fine with this. Funny how much they're continuing to mine the unused Underground / 1313 stuff.

anyway i hope this is mostly episodic narratives instead of taking the 13-hour movie approach that every tv show now does/fails at

live-action adult version of the rebels cartoon sounds okay to me

No, that was L3-37 from Solo (which I had to look up because I only remembered it was some variation on "leet").
