The film was originally scheduled to be released on November 10, 2017,[8] but in June 2016 it was pushed back to November 9, 2018.[9]

This film probably stinks

I'm trying to think of slogans and I kind of want to capitalize on the fact that it's a good movie for people who love Christmas but also a good movie for people who hate Christmas.
I also think maybe "Please Watch The Grinch" is good because it gets to the point. People love a call to action.

i'm wondering -- i didn't know that about this movie having been finished and shelved for so long -- if maybe it's now a candidate for the summertime grinch so many of us are looking forward to. say the christmas theatre starts looking pretty competitive this year.... why not just push this thing off a little further to the doldrums of june? and of course then you have the fact that this movie's still set in wintertime, which i think audiences might enjoy as a little treat to beat the heat. and if that happens, then you can go into pitch room and say, hey, look, we dipped our toes in the water of the summertime grinch, and america loved it. let's dive in.

Perhaps there’s a way to link The Mask to The Grinch. They both feature green Jim Carreys and Twitter really loves things like “smokinnnn” and “somebody stop me”

They also both have very helpful dogs. I think this was a good call and there's a lot to work with here.

I'm digging this idea of a wintertime Grinch in a summertime market. Movie theaters really crank the AC in the summer so they could skip right past making it 3D and sell it as a 4D experience.

I'm not sure how to get Illumination to postpone the film again though, other than doing a viral marketing campaign for every movie coming out in November that isn't the Grinch. Maybe we could have someone with a pick up truck drive in front of Benedict with this bumper sticker that implies Wreck it Ralph is peeing on the very idea of the new Grinch movie coming out in the same month as his new movie:

the kids also love crossovers. the grinch meets the guardians of the galaxy would be very popular.

"i am groot," the grinch could say

I started a grinch twitter and it immediately got locked.

I guess they don't want people impersonating the Grinch.
Got it unlocked now, so the real work can begin.

we need a street-team strategy where we plant people in local theatres to laugh hysterically at the these clips and then leave right away

I can't be the only person who thinks of an avocado when picturing the Grinch's trademark coloring and somewhat bulbous midsection. And we all know that avocado toast is a fucking lights-out, money making, blockbuster dish for cafes and restaurants, especially those geared toward health-conscious and really cool young professionals. So it got me thinking of another way into the Grinch universe for a whole new segment.

is it too late for them to partner with A24? they could do a twitter thing called the Grinch Challenge, where you post videos of yourself stealing Christmas.

So Franco's point about how everyone loves the minions has got me thinking. I've created a new character called "Grinchion" who is the perfect blend of Grinch and Minion.

I figure if people love the Minions I can just lie and say Grinchion will be in the new Grinch movie. People will FLOCK to the theaters to get a taste of Grinchion. Of course... he won't actually be in the movie, so then all the people wanting to see Grinchion will write angry letters to Illumination asking where he was. THEN, some intern will be tasked with tracking down the origin of the Grinchion so that they can add Grinchion to their next film (because they get to make a sequel since so many people went to see the first Grinchion-less film) and the intern will find me and I can get them to take me back to Illumination studios where I can pitch the Summertime Grinch 4D experience!

Image

It's a long con, sure, but who can resist Grinchion.

Grinchion is amazing. Just to put this on your radar Kayke, this lil one is currently doing numbers on Twitter. It’s from Ricky Gervais’ book Flannimals. Not accusing you of any infringement, rather offering evidence that the time is perfect for Grinchion
