i am a big fan of bat flips, but that probably wasn't the right time for Valbuena to do one.

edit: just saw you posted the same thing. just saw the link originally.

miggy's arm exploded, so he's out for the season. only another seven years left on that contract after this year, at least.

Yeah I've never seen it before but maddon had cishek pitch, then moved him to left field so duensing could pitch, and then put cishek back on the mound after duensing got the out.

it's been done, i know maddon did it either last year or the year before and in fact i remember girardi did it last year but he chose to put the pitcher, i believe, at first base? which i think i ended up costing an out but i may be misremembering.

anyways after all of that, joe did replace duensing in left with contreras, who ended up fielding the only ball put in play that half-inning

Girardi did it with Brian Mitchell at first base early last year...he missed a foul pop but they got out of the inning anyway.

Then he gave up 3 runs when they put him back on the mound and they lost the game.

Seemed like a really weird idiom at first but it actually just uses the same metaphor as "our asses are on the line."

sorry if this has been discussed

still can't wrap my head around the math behind these AL East standings

Win pct is very straightforward. I thought GB was too but this Boston Globe piece (the only one I can find addressing this oddity at all) is convincing me otherwise.

this is not really clicking with me
