everything about this guy's personality resonated with me. talked and wrote as he saw things, zero pretension. what a fucking tragedy

The Sizzler from the Koreatown episode is two blocks away from me. I’ve been debating eating weird ass meatball tacos there in his honor.

this hit home. I had no idea what my neighborhood noodleshop was propped up by a figurative "thumbs up".

I started reading MEDIUM RAW a day before he died. I go to try and dip my toes back in the book again and the first sentence I read is about him being suicidal after his first marriage ended. This is going to be rough. It's not fair. I loved him.

Started a rewatch last night so did the first two — Myanmar and K-Town. Less produced and written than the show would become but Im in need of watching it because despite the new cloud, there’s still going to be fun and hella positivity like hangin with Roy Choi and David Choe and driving low riders. Meatballs, marinara, guacamole, and sour cream in a hard shell taco pshhhh. What could be wrong?

Ratbags, those pics are beautiful.

The end of this at Les Halles is even sadder now too, since Carlos also died since it aired.

any of you been there?

Haha, this is one of like five bars I've been to in NYC. K_Uger suggested it for a meetup during the phish run last year so me and Dinosauria met him, Guy Incognito, and some other wonderful people there. I was pretty hung over but it struck me as a fun enough divey bar.

Yeah I love this place and 100% recommend it, tho it is surprisingly expensive and they often decide to take cash only at random times. The pic of the interior doesn’t look to me like it is the correct image; the space is mirror-covered with no overt tiki stuff (though there is like a net of some sort behind the bar and it looks vaguely nautical).
