great thread

it's hard for me to identify an aesthetic from more than like five years ago that really bums me out. it's kinda hard to describe but it's just fascinating to me how every signifier of an aesthetic is so immediately connected to a universe of other signifiers and how any of those signifiers have such obvious consequences for what a person that adopts them is like as a person. it's like when we have a thread about scrump or itt tech or whatever where it's just nonstop neural connections to somebody you knew in real life or maybe just a dive into the collective subconscious. so while i may not like the aesthetic on its own merits i have some sort of meta appreciation for it. i guess i should have been an anthropologist.

for all of that though i still absolutely cannot get behind weird puppet homunculi like lazy town or precious moments or whatever that british thing from a couple pages ago was, i mean jesus wtf are those

The fact Dirt has a lady on the front seems silly considering all the songs are boys singing about themselves
I guess the lady is heroin

I don't know what their album aesthetics were like but the band name "Jars of Clay" was enough to make me uncomfortable.

Saw this poster on public transport today and felt pretty bummed that any old Reddit nerd shit can get enough traction to get a movie eventually.

The jars are made of clay. God shapes people like we are jars that are being made out of clay. It's in the Bible.
