I liked stellastarr. I know that's a completely different band, but this reminded me of stellastarr for some reason. I haven't listened to them in years, so I probably wouldn't like them now.

i liked them too, actually. from the one song i heard on tv. but i feel you. sometimes there's these sort of bands that seem almost fake in a way/or like they just examined some zeitgeist for a second and were like "alright, let's start a band"

Yeah. A lot of those new wave throwback bands of the early 00's really didn't age well. Really weird time, in retrospect. Kind of at the tail end of MTV's influence on popular music where you had bands like The Bravery and Louis XIV next to, like, The Used.

i find this time period interesting because "the strokes machine" that birthed these bands is really only happening for soundcloud rappers now, but it's a totally similar execution.
