palmer it's interesting you found double suicide boring bc i feel like it's the most emotionally captivating experience i've ever had watching a movie, and there's so many visuals that are just permanently burned into my mind. i think of the ones you haven't seen gonza the spearman is my fave but maybe our taste in his work is different. svc i think you'd be into double suicide

It’s not really in that vein but I’d like to hear your thoughts on Calvaire if you get the chance to watch it. I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore is similar (and directed by the main character from Blue Ruin).

Blue Ruin fucking killed it and I'm still reeling and it is a tad better than Green Room but I'll always look for this director now

I try to recommend it to people but nobody seems to bite. Fabrice Du Welz is an underrated director. Vinyan is pretty solid too. Also kind of really depressing and slightly racist. Really looking forward to Adoration.

How about Nightcrawler? I had to quit halfway through cause the tension was too much for my wife.
Another title that popped in my mind is Shean Meadows' Dead Man's Shoes. Not too brutal, just a great revenge flick.

Also, Dog Soldiers fucking rules. And have you guys seen Serbian Film? I heard it's a tough watch. I also mentioned Them (2006) in another thread some time back. Really oppressive atmosphere and sense of dread, good watch.

yeah, sitting's way too passive; I always thought the best use-case scenario for this movie would be to waltz into some kind of monastery where they've got silence vows but also non-interference clauses and just set a square 12'' CRT tv down on their central meditation fountain or whatever and just kick back
Stuntman: Hipinion for me is like a choose-your-own adventure where every topic is a direct path to the depressed thread.
