I still hadn't watched anything because my roommates must be as depressed as I am. They sleep 18 hours a day. Just beginning Eyes Wide Shut for the first time and it's already so fucking amazing

I don’t know what is supposed to have been cut. It’s a pretty faithful adaptation.

I love this dude's close-read/delusional looks at Kubrick, partially because they go too far, but ymmv:

In any case, watch Eyes Wide Shut a few more times first, probably.

i love eyes wide shut but its like...straight people lost their damn minds so hard at the idea of an open relationship/marriage that kubrick had to make this movie to process it

ok, I read about it and kind of got it right but no one knows who really sent the tapes and Haneke only said it was "someone in the film"

the most interesting thing i've seen: At the end of the movie, Georges goes to sleep. His memories begin to surface via his dreams again...The first thing he dreams about is seeing Majid being taken away as a child...The second thing he dreams/remembers is seeing Pierrot and Walid have a conversation on the day he went to pick Pierrot up from school..Toggle Spoiler

THIS IS MY POST 4000

in 15 months time

So I'm looking at the five films from CAN's Soundtracks. I already have Deep End downloaded but on my tracker I can get all five. Have you guys seen Deadlock, Cream - Shwabing Report, Mädchen... nur mit Gewalt, Ein großer graublauer Vogel?

cache is 4th wall, the tapes are sent by god or the viewer or the director, and it torments the characters for our titillation or interest or for justice or any other reason. i guess the theory would be something like, a story where the audience catalyzes the action through watching.
