It's not amazing (I'd seen people suggest it was Josh, Bam and a first, which would be a robbery) but it's pretty OK.

I wonder if that upgrade was actually what they asked for?

Do you seriously think you're going to get much better than that for an expiring Jimmy Butler contract? If so, you're just as delusional as Thibs.

Richardson's contract is insanely nice on top of that.

The Wolves do not have the upper hand on trade talks. Is the priority getting Jimmy Butler's apparently cancerous presence off the team, or is it shedding Dieng's contract?

I guess have fun letting Jimmy walk after throwing away the season while still having Dieng's contract?

I dunno, you Wolves fans complain about fuckin' everything. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would probably rather risk blowing up my franchise than trade Jimmy Butler for Josh Richardson and the 20th pick

Josh Richardson at 24 is as good as Jimmy Butler was at 24 six years ago, on a 4 year/$42 million contract. While the Wolves need to invest in young core players at discounts after the Wiggins blunder.

Also, Richardson fits their timeline way more than a shot in the dark at another draft pick.

A Bledsoe-Teague backcourt would be great for Minny imo

if you think j-rich is gonna be real good you gotta make a j-rich + 1st deal. what the hell else is out there

re houston, butler is obviously better than a gordon/pj/1st package in a vacuum but i get why houston wouldn't want to pull that. i think it's probably a little too clever but i get it. you've got a team built to play a certain way and butler has a non-zero chance of fucking that up, both personality-wise and playing style-wise. still ... imagine game 7 last year without eg/pj but with butler

You need 8mill in salary as well as J-Rich though, and Waiters is the closest $ Miami have to that. I guess you'd need a third team

The reported asking price other teams had for taking on Gorgui's contract was two 1sts. The idea that Waiters' contract isn't a negative asset on that level (if not more so), but furthermore an appropriate tradeoff for Richardson and a 1st is absurd. The Heat should be shipping out two 1sts at minimum if they want to get rid of that shit sandwich.

At this point I'd rather let Butler walk rather than take on an another albatross contract

Jimmy Butler has one of the most improbable career arcs in the league

Josh Richardson is on a solid contract, but swapping a role player who isn't even on a rookie deal for a star is not going to leave the Timberwolves in a very good position. It's basically going to be impossible to manouver around the Towns/Wiggins deals

Sure, there's a non-zero chance Butler would fuck Houston up but Chris Paul is 33 and gets injured every year. Their window has possibly already closed so get another star if ya can.
