absolutely love this song.

You got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight. That's a line that resumes life.

i knew this iconic line before i even hesad the song because i was a huge U2 fan in my teens and in God Part II on Rattle and Hum Bono sings "heard a singer on the radio late last night/said he's gonna kick at the darkness t'ill it bleeds daylight".

it's been interesting watching used BC records increase in value ever so slightly over the last few years.
i keep wondering if some kind of massive (re)appraisal is on the horizon.

This is a good track. Never heard this dude before. Any other good stuff to check out from him?
Combarieu declares that the songs of birds are not "musical" either, because they are "very difficult to take down in notation." See his Music-Its Laws and Evolution, 155. Will some divine power please create a "Musical" bird to sing the Air for G String in exact Equal Temperament for M. Combarieu?

(i just posted Night Vision in the fall records thread but it is definitely more in his original folk mode than this song and its engagement with 80s sonics.)

first got introduced to BC by this HS english teacher (english being here a second language we were learning) who was a huge fan and he had us translate this tune or whatever. I remember he showed the video even. It's kind of a corny song but fuck if BC wasn't right.....

this is truly embarrassing maybe, but I love the Barenaked Ladies version of this a great deal. It is very depressing and a secret pleasure as a teen hardcore kid.

great song

i love that Bruce has an 80s WTA tennis player haircut and is dressed like a teacher and then at 1:09 the camera pulls back for the reveal that your man is playing a Flying V
