I am wondering why the Republicans want to gear up for a big fight over the summer that is largely political when the President's and Democrats' campaign will largely center around Republican defiance, obstructionism and hyper-partisanship.

this has been a theme since january 2009, but all of the concrete examples of this have really been haunting me lately

grover norquist is the demon leader of the nightmare

i press myself to admit that democratic congresses have behaved similarly with a republican executive but i really don't think that they have

Because the Republicans see the defiance, obstructionism, and hyper-partisanship as positives.

Many key voters don't and maybe one day they will figure it out. For now we might see the public be more aware of their tendencies towards these three things if it really comes to the surface over this Holder fight in Congress. A similar thing happened during the last Democratic Administration.

i don't think the group of voters you're talking about pay close enough attention to the procedural stuff to put the deserved amount of blame on the republicans; they just hear an agreement can't be reached and assume equal proportions of blame

it's like how only the most dedicated judge judy fans will listen to the merits of each litigants case, and the majority will just enjoy watching two hopeless scumbags squirm

I am not talking about procedure at all. I am talking about Republicans starting a big, unnecessary battle with the White House over an issue that has nothing to do with the economy or jobs the summer before the Presidential election. I think people will notice that on their own and because OFA/DNC shows them.

because hammering away and tying obama to F&F will help them

people will not see this as obstructionist. holder is a clown and now obama is implicated. what more could the repubs want?

F&F has been around for a long time now and it's never gained much traction

That may change in an election year, but I doubt it's something that's going to sway many swing voters

About 16 months actually, and even Scott Rasmussen says conservatives are who are paying the most attention to this. Romney doesn't want this to be a big story and like I said, the SCOTUS ruling will suck the life from it.. especially if the decision comes tomorrow.

Ok I lied they might read another decision. The first three weren't ACA or SB1070.

Scalia quoted as saying "What is a grinder, anyway? Am I supposed to know what every kind of sandwich is? Is that something my clerks should have to spend their time researching? Whatever, I'll take one."
