how does everyone feel about a moderator who holds the view that a man who orchestrated the murder of 3000 Americans was "savvy" and "astute"

Thinking of this thread title is a problem in my life. I mean I have innumerable others, but this is a relatively good one. I almost said it verbatim on my good date last night when I was explaining why like Romney cannot step to Obama.

The best part of that Washington Post article:

Bin Laden’s biggest concern was al-Qaeda’s media image among Muslims. He worried that it was so tarnished that, in a draft letter probably intended for Atiyah, he argued that the organization should find a new name.

The al-Qaeda brand had become a problem, bin Laden explained, because Obama administration officials “have largely stopped using the phrase ‘the war on terror’ in the context of not wanting to provoke Muslims,” and instead promoted a war against al-Qaeda. The organization’s full name was “Qaeda al-Jihad,” bin Laden noted, but in its shorthand version, “this name reduces the feeling of Muslims that we belong to them.” He proposed 10 alternatives “that would not easily be shortened to a word that does not represent us.” His first recommendation was “Taifat al-tawhid wal-jihad,” or Monotheism and Jihad Group.

So David Corn has a new "behind the scenes" book about the administration coming out next week.

They put the chapter dealing with the bin Laden raid up

The audience roared with laughter. Trump was at the dinner, a guest of the Washington Post, and practically everyone in the room was looking to see his reaction. He didn't crack a smile. He appeared to be seething. There was a charge in the ballroom. It was as if a school bully were being called out in the middle of an assembly. In this instant, Obama was vanquishing Trump, birtherism, the silliness that often infects American politics, and the far Right's ridiculous assaults on him.

In a day, though, this moment would seem sharper and deeper than the audience at the dinner realized, for as Obama was mocking Trump, he was anxiously awaiting the outcome of one of the most weighty decisions of his presidency—his order to send a team of US special forces into Pakistan to get Osama bin Laden.

My only exposure to David Corn is MSNBC and his interactions with Michael Steele and the like. So you can understand why I ask if something he wrote is going to be worthwhile reading.

thats funny, he just had a Michael Steele article on MoJo this week

I don't know if the book is going to be any good, but I think a lot of us are usually hungry for some of the behind the scenes stuff

I saw a clip of some Fox dude trying to make a big deal out of the Cee Lo thing, which I don't care about. But he pulled the, "I've never even heard of the guy!" schtick that seems to be a point of pride these days. Not knowing famous people, it's the cool thing to do.

His picking UNC to win was also politically astute. I swear the reason he won NC in 08 (by only 30k votes) was because he came and practiced with the heels. There was a shot of him laughing it up with Roy and the boys on the front page of every little shit town newspaper. Earned him major good will down here.

biden: "obama silkiest smoothest president in 500 years"

Vice President Joe Biden is the biggest cheerleader of the president's decision to raid Osama bin Laden's compound and, on Monday, he offered new praise for the choice Obama made last spring.

“You can go back 500 years. You cannot find a more audacious plan. Never knowing for certain. We never had more than a 48 percent probability that he was there,” Biden said at a fundraiser in Morris Township, N.J.

“Do any one of you have a doubt that if that raid failed that this guy would be a one-term president?” Biden asked. Obama, he said, “is willing to do the right thing and risk losing.”

Classic Biden, trying to compliment the pres but making him sound clueless in the process. "We really had no idea if ObL was there. Barry was just all 'Fuck it dudes let's raid.'"
