been playing with this a lot lately
listening to various functions, how they respond to altered terms, how they sound played over the top of one another, etc.

https://music.stackexchange.com/a/43127
Code: Select all
#include <stdint.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <math.h>

double y(double t) {
  return (16 * cos(t/2) - cos(t*2)) / 15;
}

double pitch = 440 * 2*3.14159;  // so the base pitch will be a standard A note

int main() {
  int16_t v;
  char* p = (char*) (&v);  // "buffer" for standard output
  double t=0;

  while (t+=1./44100) {
    v = (int16_t) ( y(t*pitch) * (2<<12) );
    putchar(p[0]);putchar(p[1]);  // disclaimer: this is NOT good programming
    putchar(p[0]);putchar(p[1]);  // style, just a quick hack to output data
  }
  return 0;                          // thx leftaroundabout
}

piped into this person's windows aplay thing (thx maddin45)

base jumpers and extreme sports in general do that as profession, risking their own lives. it's not like a marketing department needs to brainstorm "hmmm, base jumpers, what could we make them do."

yeah people do die doing this stuff. there was this young 23yo guy I knew who died a couple years ago while basejumping, he was a mutual friend and I met him a couple times, super nice guy. it was really sad, but like...that's the risk ya know

yea, one of my older brothers did base jumping and all sorts of extreme "I can flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy without wiiings" sports for puh, 20 years.
he stopped the extreme stuff on his 45th birthday, the last one of his old friends had jumped straight into death that day, most others he started with had already passed.
he still does paragliding and target skydiving so you know....

I went to uni with an ice climber (is that a thing in the US? you go climbing in frozen waterfalls mostly...welcome to the alps), he died under 30.

anyway. did you see how damn pretty that plane is, Paul...
