Probably Hush.

I used to love the halloween episodes too, especially the one where they all get turned into the characters they're dressed as

We already did this in the other thread.

(Also, Revelations is mediocre and your list doesn't include Restless. wtf)

I have an inexplicable soft spot for the one where Buffy works in a fast food joint.

I confused the two. Restless is my absolute favorite. So, I edited it. Sorry.

This is the right answer for the best

Band Candy is great too. Lots of S3 episodes just missed my list: Band Candy, The Wish, Dopplegandland

If you had to pick one its obviously "Once More With Feeling." I have a soft spot for "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" and "Intervention."

I liked this a lot. "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered." It's like a better version of the saved by the bell where all the girls ask Zach to the dance.

I love "Surprise," though, because, you know

I know you were half kidding, but Giles is in almost every episode. Also, when Angel is not Angelus in BtVS, he is pretty terrible.

And Giles-centric episodes are hit or miss--The Dark Age and A New Man, probably the only two that are exclusively focused on Giles, are terrible.

for a good one-off episode i didn't properly appreciate the first time around "I Only Have Eyes For You."
Sadie Hawkins dance with John Hawkes where they all take up the roles of the star crossed lovers and it plays Angelus and Buffy against each other
pretty great

edit: oh yeah with the sadie hawkins dance theme buffy and angel are in opposite gender roles if i remember correctly

This is a great one. In fact, from Surprise/Innocence, S2 is nearly perfect.
