I get what yr sayin but I dunno.. I can't think of a better everyday computer

I pushed my partner towards getting a 4K quad-core XPS 15 instead of a MacBook Pro from Best Buy to save some money. She's using it for Adobe Premiere and the thing has been a fucking nightmare. Constant blue screens and restarting. I had to send it back to Dell because it was blue screening so much and it came back and was still having issues. Windows 10 is a goddamn nightmare operating system that will overwrite your manufacturers drivers with shitty ones from Windows Update. They are also spying on you and recording all your telemetry data for their racist super computer.

I have to recommend the 2017 MacBook Pro as the best laptop you can buy right now.

the touch bar is a half-assed compromise for a touch screen, which i assume apple will inevitably implement in the 2020 MBP and dub it "revolutionary."

(after charging an extra $200 for this courageous innovation) don't worry, you'll be able to purchase a non-touchscreen version for just $100 less

^yeah. don't get why they wouldn't do a touchscreen on the MBP. i mean, it doesn't really revolutionize anything or really rise above an "oh, neat" feature but i like having the option on the windows 2-in-1 i have. i like the different orientations you can use with the 360 hinge too.

plus drawing on a screen and having it feel almost natural is pretty cool.

I actually really appreciate the way apple is holding the line between macOS and iOS

a laptop is a laptop and a tablet is a tablet and trying to make them both the same thing is a UX nightmare

my laptop is basically a big iphone without a touch screen. i can send text and voice messages and the touch pad gestures are identical. macOS (FKA OSX) will eventually integrate with iOS

what was the last macbook where you could actually swap new hardware in, that's probably the last good one. my 2012 mpb runs better than my 2015 at this point, but it's bulkier

last MBP with swappable hardware has to be like 2012 or something. maybe earlier. my 8 gigs of RAM are glued to the MB. on the bright side they're still selling MBPs with 8 GB RAM

touchscreen means that they have to redesign os x, it's part of why windows 8+ are such nightmares

hi I don't know anything about computers

so the refurb mbp I bought two years ago for mslofgang, the memory has decided to eat a shit

I drilled out the weird screws only to find the memory is fucking soldered to the motherboard along with everything else

this thing has a real nice screen, it seems a shame to throw it in the garbage what do I do

although the reason they are nightmares isn't because they had to redesign the UX, it's the specific way they did it

that seems more like an issue of trying to make it cross-platform to tablets with that metro shit and media widgets and whatever

yes though designing a single OS for that many form factors is a bad business decision

the 128GB SE is super cheap and the design (5s) is the best the iPhone ever was, imo

+1 for the SE. first and so far only iPhone I've ever had. the relatively small size makes for some tricky texting/typing sometimes but it's not a big deal.
