banksy does the simpsons intro

Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining
Cloning while they're multiplying
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson
Courtney Love, and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes
Run to your mansions
Come around
We'll kick your ass in

Or rather, when did it become uncool to think Banksy isn't bad (and might even be pretty good)?
When did he start profiteering from social commentary?

So I take it you don't watch television or movies, listen to music, read books, or look at art? 'Cos all those things are 'profiteering' from social commentary.
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

I actually don't have feelings on Banksy either way, but the apparent hypocrisy ("profiteering") seems to be crux of the anti-Banksy sentiment on this board. It strikes me as a little absurd, but apparently he's presenting himself as the voice of the proletariat despite being member of the bourgeois, which just makes him Bruce Springsteen with a can of spray paint IMO.

That intro alerted saranclaps to the plight of Korean animators like the motion picture Sugar (2008, dir. Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck) taught him about the plight of Dominicans in Minor League Baseball.

And here I thought Steve Kroft's usage of "robot computers" was going to the night's most misleading bit of reductionism. I guess I was wrong.

Am I not allowed to be annoyed that Disney used North Korean studios to animate some of its films in the nineties?

yeh there was a similar joke in one of the early seasons. I remember it because on the commentary they said the Koreans refused to animate it, so they had to do it themselves

The comparison wasn't on qualitative grounds; I think Springsteen is a much better at being a singer-songwriter than Banksy is at being a provocateur-cum-artist.

From my experience, people who find Banksy to be an extremely profound harbinger of truth are pretty insufferable, though.

Isn't Bruce Springsteen popular in Australia? If someone like Missy Higgins is seriously a bigger brand name, you guys need to reprioritize your shit.

Also, YouTube comments, the hotbed of online intellectualism:

OMG BANKSY IS GENIUS whatever. It's a fshame it takes some jerk from the uk to put this on the simpsons to make people talk about it. Go eat your mc donald's and watch your CNN and obey like good little americans. Because its not like anyone is going to really do anything about it.

I think Banksy is a pretty cool guy. Eh writes shit on walls and he doesn't afraid of anything.

funnily enough, this is a criticism of capitalism but clearly shows the WORST exploitations happens in socialist totalitarian states like China. Nice try Banksy.

although if the choice is to spend your life in st. paul's, stencilling graffiti on stuff and living off the dole/drugs compared to selling out and getting your name on the simpsons and being a coffee table book for the middle-class to observe working-class attitudes without having to actually go near them then it's not much of a choice at all
