Zurich wrote: good pups, are you stupid? I think this many seasons in you'd get the joke by now that TGS is a pretty bad show and any glimpse of sketches they give us seem purposely retarded/exaggerated.the actors of TGS are retarded as it is, that's why the show focuses on their lives off-screen. it's also kind of a knock at how audiences blindly like dumb stars. why would you want to see an actual TGS sketch?
.

TGS isn't an actual show. of course i've noticed it's terrible, but it's a waste to only get that joke out of it, over and over, and in the most obvious way. i'm not saying i wish i could watch a mini sketch show inside a sitcom, but i do wish they could get better jokes out of the idea of TGS. there are more interesting things they could do with it.

and that's especially true of the live episode. which was fine, but basically a slightly worse regular episode that was a little meta. it was a great opportunity to do unexpected and exciting things.

i do have to ask though, why do you have such 'discerning' taste nathan?

do you just prefer to like less things? is it like a matter of trying to keep the 'taste' part of your brain uncluttered?

sports night and sunny are actually similarly infuriating

flashes of brilliance and promise interspersed with long thudding silence and occasional eyerolling

the difference is sunny should have its shit together after 6 years but doesnt.
admittedly the metal thread has recently taken a hit

She's ugly yes but I actually don't mind when she shows up in 30 Rock episodes. She was fine last night.

The worst character she's played on 30 Rock from memory is the season 1 Valentine's episode when Jack picks her up (she's a prostitute) and interrupts Tracy's sex games at the hotel.

The main reason that was awful was because she had more than a handful of lines, she's OK when she's limited to a few moments per episode.

wow.

Rachel Dratch, Fey's longtime comedy partner and fellow SNL alumna, was originally cast to portray Jenna. Dratch played the role in the show's original pilot, but in August 2006, Jane Krakowski was announced as Dratch's replacement, with Dratch remaining involved in the show playing various characters. Fey explained the change by noting that Dratch was "better-suited to playing a variety of eccentric side characters", and that the role of Jenna was more of a straight-ahead acting part. Although Fey went on to say that "Rachel and I were both very excited about this new direction", Dratch said that she was not happy with the media's depiction of the change as a demotion. Dratch was skeptical about the reasons she was given for the change, and was not happy with the reduction in the number of episodes in which she would appear.

just watched them side by side. actually almost perfectly syncs up a handful of times. would be neat to see them joined in a single file, audio of each paned to a side, resynced up at each return from commercial.

as in "wow, that's mindblowing." that would have stuck out like a sore thumb in an otherwise great casting job.
