so true. i grew up there, the flats is probably one of the more depressing areas.
i remember going there with my parents as a kid and it would be packed and now everything is boarded up.
w6th street is also the rust belt jersey shore.
also parma, ohio and the areas around should be added to this list as well.

Jesus, yes. I mean I grew up in Worcester, MA and generally enjoy dying industrial towns but Cleveland takes it to a whole new level.

i go to youngstown for my depressing rust belt ohio city fix. cleveland is terrible because it pretends it's not that type of city and it has culture and it invented rock and roll and one of its teams will one day win a championship in a major sport

cleveland is just one humongous mass hallucination

I'd never been able to pinpoint the reason why Cleveland was so bad but this is exactly it. Cleveland is a still single 3 cat owning 37 year old woman with fading looks yet uncompromising standards for her partners.

i've never been but if you'll allow me to be blatantly prejudiced, the last two letters say it all

edit: i mean "oh", not "us"

"Scaggsville" seems like an all-around bad name for a town.

i actually found this out when i was there last summer for a show. there's a big plaque out front that proclaims that cleveland is "the birthplace of rock 'n' roll" because some radio dj there was supposedly the first to play a rock record and refer to it as "rock 'n' roll."

pretty big talk coming from a state who has generated at most five bands over the last fifty years

I've only been a couple times but I enjoyed it well enough when I stayed away from OSU madness. It does have the whole air of failure that seems to hover over Ohio, but in Colombus it isn't smothering.

I don't know who the idiot who suggested Hull is, but he's an idiot.
jockesh or jakesh in farsi means pimp and unlike american in farsi pimp is a big insult and commonly applied to scoundrels and bad people like bush jr and i dont know of a word for actual jocks i dont think its a thing in iran but also anyway i wanted to say i believe in nothing

yeah i ask because my girlfriend started an art history program at osu, so i'm spending more time in columbus. it seems pretty nice and low key, though i'll probably have to get used to having things more spread out.

OP updated with each town that was given a description/justification. Ignored OH towns this pass but will add an Ohio sublist (i.e. 5a,b,c) this afternoon.

I totally forgot about Suffern, NY. I had some pretty delicious Indian food there, but the water they served us tasted like it came from a toilet. I was also convinced, during much of our drive through the town, that we were in New Jersey.

I like it in Ohio.

There are many states in the country with worse economies, landscape, weather, culture, etc.

Has anyone said Toledo? I rolled into the downtown for a sandwich one afternoon, and never even stopped the car. Just miserable.

This is correct, but Phoenix is the scourge of the Southwest that thinks it's a jewel. Yuma doesn't have that personality conflict.
His standup was so fucking bro'd out and he had like 20 minutes of material that hinged on the audience having seen Grandma's boy.
