Hutz: Now Marge, you've come to the right place. By hiring me as your lawyer, you also get this smoking monkey.
[sniff] Better cut down there, Smokey! [laughs]
Marge: Mr. Hutz!
Hutz: [excited] Look - he's taking another puff!
Marge: Mr. Hutz! This was all a misunderstanding; I didn't mean to take anything. [Lionel disappointedly drops the smoking monkey in a drawer full of identical critters]
Hutz: Now don't you worry, Mrs. Simpson, I - uh-oh. We've drawn Judge Snyder.
Marge: Is that bad?
Hutz: Well, he's kind of had it in for me, since I accidently ran over his dog. Actually, replace `accidently' with `repeatedly', and replace `dog' with `son'.

Krusty: [barging in with cue cards] All right, you poindexters, let's
get this right!
One: "Hey, hey, kids, I'm Talking Krusty."
Two: "Hey, hey, here comes Slideshow Mel" -- again -- "Here
comes Sideshow Mel". "Sideshow Mel".
Three: [does a Krusty laugh]
Budda-bing, budda-boom, I'm done. Learn from a professional,
kid.
[walks out, squeals his tires away]
Techie: OK, Krusty, we are ready to roll any -- what the...?

Either way, it's pretty galling that they made a sequel to it.

There are a couple of episodes like this, that are still funny but don't feel right and then subsequent seasons took all the bad parts of them and ran with it. They're all in Season 8, too.

Homer's Enemy, Homer vs. the Eighteenth Amendment, Homer's Phobia are the most obvious, but I'd put El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer, You Only Move Twice, and The Twisted World of Marge Simpson in there, too.

Homerpalooza and the one with Grandpa's sex tonic are brutal. The latter has to be my least-favorite ep I can remember. He's just the worst character. Anything more than a couple lines, barring the WWII ORIGINS ep with Burns (which was fantastic), is too much.

Gabbo is still my favorite Simpsons ep ever. I mean I haven't watched this show, I haven't seen an episode, since Homer Vs. New York City. I am not exaggerating at all. It just stopped doing anything for me, I got older. I can't believe that's the last episode I saw, but I just went through and scanned backwards until I could remember one, and that's the newest one I remember.

Yeah season 8 really feels different from every other season for some reason, but there's some good shit in there

Homer's Phobia might have been the hardest I've laughed on the first watch

Bart: Krusty! This camp was a nightmare! They fed us gruel, they forced
us to make wallets for export, and one of the campers was eaten by
a bear!
Krusty: [horrified] Oh My God!!
Bart: Well, actually, the bear just ate his hat.
Krusty: Was it a nice hat?
Bart: Oh yeah.
Krusty: [horrified] Oh My God!!

Yeah I would go with either that or the part about drinking a Coke on the bus.

"Speaking of charming, watching FOX last night, I heard a rather amusing story. This character named Martin was feeling rather... randy, and he was heard to remark --"

and the classic:

Marge : Have you noticed something about Bart?
Homer : New glasses?
Marge : No. It seems like something could be troubling him.
Homer : Probably misses his old glasses.
Marge : I want to get more involved in Bart's activities, but then I'd be afraid of smothering him.
Homer : Yeah, and then we'd get the chair.
Marge : That's not what I meant.
Homer : Admit it Marge, it was.

Ladies and gentlemen, I've been to Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and I can say without hyperbole that this is a million times worse than all of them put together.
