is the a consensus best version of Machina II at this point? last i remember there was a decent one, and one that maybe sounded a bit snappier but was also maybe pitched wrong or something?

help me out former netphorians

After 27 Years, Billy Corgan Finally Reunites With Stolen ‘Gish’ Guitar
“It’s an incredible story,” Corgan says of the wild tale that brought the Stratocaster back to Smashing Pumpkins frontman. “It’s a happy day”

Image

Her daughters never played the instrument and it resurfaced as she was looking for things to sell. “I really wanted a hot tub, frankly, and my husband wouldn’t buy me one, so I said, ‘Well I’m gonna sell some of this stuff,'” she says. “People always said it was probably worth some money. I didn’t know if it is or not and then I got the article about it.”

She’s not much of a Smashing Pumpkins fan – she’s more into the Rolling Stones — but she recognized a few of their songs when a girlfriend of hers helped her connect the dots about the instrument’s provenance. Her friend had recognized it from an article online and said, “Isn’t this the guitar you have in your basement?” “I just freaked out and I’m like, ‘I don’t know,'” she says. She tried sending Corgan a Facebook message about six months ago but didn’t get through to him.

Wow that lady is a saint for not wanting anything for the guitar. Billy's still a dick.

I'm 10x more excited for the MACHINA reissue than I was for MACHINA when it originally came out. Even though I should know better, I hope Billy having almost 20 years to stew on the concept yields something really weird + cool (tho I don't see any way of salvaging songs like "Heavy Metal Machine" or "Blue Skies Bring Tears")

it’s quite an experience watching every Smashing Pumpkins video back to back and witnessing Billy Corgan‘s slow transformation from a sweet sensitive boy into a victorian uncle fester sith lord

A tour with Noel Gallagher and Billy Corgan with AFI opening would have seemed completely illogical 20 years ago, and yet today, nodding head.gif

Based on my experience buying tickets to see them last year...I'm not gonna buy right away. I can't see this selling all that well and prices may drop closer to the actual dates.

Fuck, they're playing my old Arkansas hometown.

As a kid, all I hoped for was that they'd make it as close as STL or KC or OKC.

Yeah my brother and I got I think Row 6 or 7 for $100.00 each day of the show.

Really, really surprisingly enjoyed the show, as I mentioned a couple of times. Assumed they'd be mailing it in on the last show of the tour, but it was maybe the best I've seen them live. The most polished, at any rate.
