oh god. sounds exactly like krokodil

(background on krokodil: https://newrepublic.com/article/113051/georgias-war-drugs-how-its-subutex-addiction-ended)

it had a brief flareup in distribution/usage in the midwest 3-5 years ago.... timeline kind matches up... :( what a nightmare

Somebody help me here. You know that sound the Ventra machines make as it's waiting for you to insert money? The three repeated ascending tones. What classic house track has those same tones in that order as it's bassline? I think the track has a four note bassline whereas the ventra sound is only three notes

I sound insane but I can hear the actual song so clearly and can't remember the title or who produced it.

is this actually any good? ive seen flyers but im soooo skeptical because of the way it's been exposed/promoted. and coming from miami where there's shit like Ultra, I've just internalized a healthy dose of cynicism for widely-endorsed electronic stuff.

i havent been to the Millenium Park thing specifically, but i cant imagine it will be anything like Ultra. the people theyre booking are all Old School Chicago 80s/90s house. half of the crowd will probably be middle aged south siders. i mean we're talking Ron Trent (who btw you should not miss)

went to Chosen Few a couple years ago and it was just the best vibes all around

Yea it's definitely old school Chicago house shit. That's why it's being promoted as like a city cultural event. It's the millennium park blues fest but with house. But I can almost guarantee that will be a more enjoyable thing than Ultra, which after looking at some previous lineups, yeeesh. It's just going to be grooves, great weather and it's free.

as far as open wound people go:

when i first moved here i was driving home from a job interview drinking a milkshake in my car, windows down, music playing and i get off at the irving park exit. i'm waiting at the light on pulaski and there's this dude holding a sign that says "badly hurt, any money helps" but i can't see his figure, just his one arm that's up with the sign. he starts walking between cars (there's two in front of me, three on the right) and he's clutching his other arm to his chest. as he walks by my passenger side window i look over and notice that arm has a huge fucking hole in it, it's just a gigantic, probably 7-8 inch wide open wound that's probably 2-3 inches across. i can see the bone no problem, i can see how yellow it is. the light turned green and i started to roll my windows up as fast as i could before he got to my driver's side. i was drinking the milkshake the whole time because i was so stunned. when he got to my driver's side window i was just starting to move and caught a facefull of open wound and i didn't have a milkshake until recently when i got my wisdom teeth removed. it was insane.

The whole Lincoln Yards development is going to suck. It could be such a captivating green space/park with river access and an amazing location, along with the opportunity to connect with the 606. Instead we are going to get a glorified strip mall full of fro-yo shops and probably a Verizon store. And now a livenation venue? what? no.
