i think you can get like daisy cutter tall boys for $8, not cheap but managable. i like to pregame at the cork and kerry, which is right across from the little park north of the stadium.

hey Chicago

has anyone seen the guy around Magnificent Mile asking for money with giant gaping wounds in his legs? Looked like the victim of an incredibly serious burn or flesh-eating disease. I got a quick glance at him sitting and asking for money and appearing really really distressed, but my brain kinda short circuited and I couldn't process if it was real or not, and I didn't want to stare at it either. I've seen bad shit on the subways in NYC but this was some next-level panhandling or shock performance art, or someone in need of some serious medical attention. Does anyone know this guy's story?

So I've seen a few different panhandlers with various gnarly looking leg abcesses, to the point that it seems to form a specific subgroup. The wounds are very real and I imagine it's a combination of untreated diabetes and heroin addiction. Honestly it's a mystery to me how some have managed to keep their limbs for so long, but it does seem some "maintain" or discourage the wounds from healing to earn more (to in turn score). At this point some have been at it for years and while I imagine their health situations are horrendously compromised, it does seem in any other situation the limb would have been amputated a long time ago.

I saw him the other day and tried not to look directly at it. I only caught it in my peripheral vision. I obviously don't know what his story is but it was horribly gruesome and sad. :(

One of these guys is the "I just need a couple bucks for a train ticket to aurora because my dad just kicked me out, I'm sorry for being such a failure" who morphed into the "I just need a few bucks for my medication. I swear I'm not lying, look at my leg" guy. He's been doing it for maybe...at least several years if not longer. White dude. I used to get his spiel on the brown line in 2010 and hes still at it.

Bit yea the MI Ave guy (who i think also ocassionally rides the train) is in way worse shape. It's sad all around

most haunting thing ever was turning around (I was trying to find a store on that block) and getting a glimpse at the faces of the people who had just walked past him. It will stay with me for a while.

I have had enough experiences in Chicago to conclude that in a lot of ways it's actually grittier than NY

(background on krokodil: https://newrepublic.com/article/113051/georgias-war-drugs-how-its-subutex-addiction-ended)

it had a brief flareup in distribution/usage in the midwest 3-5 years ago.... timeline kind matches up... :( what a nightmare

Somebody help me here. You know that sound the Ventra machines make as it's waiting for you to insert money? The three repeated ascending tones. What classic house track has those same tones in that order as it's bassline? I think the track has a four note bassline whereas the ventra sound is only three notes

I sound insane but I can hear the actual song so clearly and can't remember the title or who produced it.
