here we go, a third guy:

juno 60's are awesome analog synths don't get me wrong. now just because someone has put one on e-bay buy it now for the last 2 years for 1200 bucks doesn't make it worth that.. i have been watching craigslist for the last 7 years and i don't think analog synths have appreciated 300% in 2010. 300 400 maybe 500 if it is mint. come on man.

have a buddy who will sell me his alesis micron that he had for about a week before a huge box of colored pencils fell on the power knob and broke it off. he tried to replace it, instead of using the warranty, and now it doesn't even come on. dude only wants 70 bucks for it but i don't know dick about synths, let alone digital modelers, nor do i know anyone who does. what should i do here? since he did what he did, it voided the warranty, so it could cost a fuck ton just to get an estimate... this sucks, hard.

if that's really all that's wrong with it $70 is a good deal

i don't know exactly what the power switch looks like on a micron but it would likely be one of the easiest possible thinks to fix

Some of the info is good, but the prices are all wrong and the message board is a mess. They should make it more of a wiki, some of the best info is in the comments section for every synth.

Those places are definitely going to be helpful down the road, but I know literally next to nothing about how synthesizers work. I don't know what voices are or any technical jargon. Is there some place that has a good introduction to using synthesizers? I want to be as educated as possible before I make any further moves.

I've probably built 20 simple synths. I think there was some other dude here who did it, too.

It's not easy because you need basic electronics knowledge and breadboards and components, etc. I still can't make anything overly complicated and debugging your board is fucking frustrating. The great thing is once you have it down (and this may literally take months), you can make some cool stuff that doesn't have much value/purpose other than a dickaround toy.

Of the new one or one of my older ones? I'll hook it up and do a video next week if you want. The one thing I don't have the sac to do yet is fuck with serious voltage.

It's my favorite primarily because I didn't have a PCB and just used wire all over the place. Also because it's made of wood.

It has a side door. It's battery-powered. Plus it shorts out constantly so I have to get back in there.

just picked up a roland hs-60 (ugly juno 106 w/speakers). got it real cheap because it's doesn't look like a 106 and because a bunch of sliders and the portamento are broken. voice chips are fine I believe.

I think I'm going to sell off my ms2000 and instead just use some pedals with the hs-60. Never cared much for the ms2000's on board (digital) delay. I've got a big muff, behringer's line 6 roto-machine clone, and of course there's the Juno's built-in chorus. Anyone have suggestions for pedals that work well with synths? I need to get some delay...
