Man, that bugbrand shit is killer but if I ever decide to go to the way of the banana-jack it's gonna be Serge all day.

It's pretty great but I feel like I might ditch it for an SH-101 sometime soon. This one has the Moog filter clone that almost got ARP sued, which sounds fantastic and I just realized the other day can be CV controlled with the "pedal" input on the back. My only complaint is that the noise source bleeds into the VCA, so even when it's all the way down at the mixer there's still a really quiet retro high-hat, gated white noise sound when you hit a key. Apparently it's a really easy fix though.

Left reel to reel is hi-fi as shit and gets used for analog mixdowns and slowing things down. Middle r2r is a piece of shit and gets used for loops and making things sound filthy. 4-track is just kinda there and gets used as a mixer sometimes. Do most of my recording in Logic Pro.

I was just concerned you're just making drone noise loops or some similar shit.

I suppose it's time to bite the bullet and get around to buying some speakers for my synths. Any recommendations? Do I need a PA unit to hook both of them up through the same speakers/is this even advisable? I want to run them both in stereo fyi. Forgive my massive ignorance on this subject.

I'm happy with it -- in the long run I'd like to get a sub as well since the bass is the only thing vaguely lacking with this set-up. I could probably step up to a slightly more powerful amp to avoid clipping when I run it loud. I play a lot more house shows than club gigs, so relying on other folks for amplification really sucks. Playing synths through borrowed guitar amps sounds maximally shitty.

Also, these are actually really fucking loud and have a ton of bass. Used to use one with all the highs rolled off as a sub for my system for house shows at my place. Super heavy though, kind of never want to look at it again after hauling one around on tour.

just picked up an alpha juno 1 in awesome shape for $100.

sadly i'm more stoked about this:

i gave up on trying to find a decent sampling synth until i can afford a nord wave or something. i know it'll be really lame to have a midi controller running an ipod touch, but i figure i'll just bury it in the foam of a road case.

My Yamaha DX7-II should be arriving today. Pretty excited to get back in the synth game, since the dude repairing my Juno is now on his 8th month of "working on it". Granted, repairs are like his third job, but I expect a bit more haste than that. At least the thing should sound flawless when it's done.

As far as MIDI sequencing goes, any recommended programs? It's the first MIDI synth I've had.

No biggie on that one, fresh. He actually texted me a minute ago and offered to lend me his Jupiter 4 while he finishes up work on the Juno.

that vermona is sick, but you need an external sequencer unless you wanna press the buttons and 'play it live'
but still it sounds fucking incredible. look for a video where a dude triggers it with a monomachine

this lil dude is finally ready. if it were 400 i would pick one up, but 800 seems a bit too steep for what it is. its still rad though.
