Lightroom CC is pretty simple and automatically syncs to the mobile app which is nice. I still use LR Classic for serious editing, but I've taken to a combination of the LR app, VSCO, and Snapseed for like social media posts and have been enjoying it quite a bit.

I should probably get back into using my camera(s), but for some reason I haven't wanted to since I got to Vietnam. Phone is just doing it for me right now.

Thanks. They work for IG and Facebook, but that's about it. That's mostly how people view photos these days, but it's nice to have the headroom in case you want to make prints or whatever. It's just such a bitch to carry gear everywhere.

Lightroom Mobile in RAW/HDR mode is a really compelling ultra-portable setup, assuming you have a reasonably new iPhone (image quality on my 7 is really pretty good). For landscapes and documenting interesting light you encounter just walking around during your day, I think it's pretty hard to beat the ease of use/convenience factor there. Although it does tend to eat up your phone battery pretty quick. But still, it's an amazing tool to have with you at all times, especially when you didn't bring a dedicated camera.

I've kind of fallen in love with the Fuji X100F lately. I rented one before a work trip to South Africa and really grew to appreciate its fairly low-fuss interface and excellent optics & color rendition. After a while I ended up shooting mostly JPEG - especially because I was frequently moving between the native 35mm-equivalent frame and the very good digital-teleconverter 50mm and 75mm. Oftentimes, even on shots where I shot RAW+JPEG, I end up going with the JPEG in Lightroom because even after applying the same Fuji film emulation profile to the RAW, it's not quite the same (or as good) as the JPEG. Once in a while when I really need aggressive highlight or shadow recovery, the RAW outperforms, but it's way less often than I would've imagined.

I want to keep at least one full DSLR (probably my 5Dmk3) but I think I'm going to sell my other bodies and put that cash back into an X100F. Simply put, aside from Lightroom Mobile on my phone, nothing else has made me actively look forward to taking pictures and want to go out and do it like the Fuji. It just feels right, and the results are constantly impressive to me. I'll post some stuff in here eventually.

I think there may be something wrong with my F. Was taking images today at f8-f11, 1/200 and iso 400 and they were coming out frustratingly soft. And then I switched from AF to MF and the focus plane was crazy blurred and would only jump into sharpness for a split second with a half press.

I'm just talking to myself.

I feel ya, Buddy. When I shoot anything that's not for work (i.e., not product photography) I pretty much always use my GR, which is an even smaller, wider X100. I really like the X100s, too... might pick one up when I finally sell off my Nikon stuff (something I'm likely to do when I get back Stateside).

It's been interesting observing the camera-buying habits of Asian cultures, living over here. The Vietnamese are very much in the Canon/Nikon dichotomy (Canon dominating pretty hard). The Chinese/Japanese are almost all in on Sony and Fujifilm. And the Koreans/Taiwanese are either entirely mirrorless or analog.

I dusted off my Nikon D3000 dslr. Hoping it’s still a worthy camera.

visited japan last year, and it was wild how sony mirrorless cameras were everywhere. Far more common than nikon or canon.
