- significant sound leakage, no sound isolation

If you want Grados, consider the Alessandro MS1s instead. They use the SR-125 drivers but cost the same as SR-80s.

i've got a pair of sr80i's going right now, and i agree with Boo that they're not comfortable for any real length of time, but there's plenty of support out there to 'mod' them to make them more comfortable. with the low-end grados it's just the drivers you want anyway, everything else is crap. cheap plastic, cheap cabling joints, cheap foam, cheap headstrap, but the drivers are meticulously picked. they're too bright for a lot of people, though, and if your music pool is bass heavy they wont do you much good. plus a lot of weak mp3 players (all apple phones/pods fall into this category) don't have the power to really push the drivers, so i recommend picking up a cheap amp if you get a pair of grados. my pair's stage opened right up after i bought this cheap little nothing: http://www.fiio.com.cn/product/index.as ... uID=020301

i need new earbuds. think i'm gonna stray from the standard sennheisers for the first time ever. maybe just skull candys or something. i tried out some etymotics a few ago but the probe was so invasive, had to return. felt like i was gettin checked for an ear ache.

at home i have and really really love the beyerdynamic dt-880 pro. semi-open design is key.

faulting open headphones for "significant sound leakage" is a little odd given that they're open

open headphones are generally considered the best of the best in the sense that the top tier uber-expensive ones are all open for the most part, but it's also a matter of taste (some people mod senn 650's e.g. to be closed with "woody" mods or whatever)

it's also obviously a matter of where you're going to use them and if it's at home with people around or outside then open are not the way to go at all

Been wanting a pair of these. My K-171 Studios are still my fav sounding headphone I own.

Just bought some AIAIAI earbuds for the bus or walking or whatever. They're pretty ok. Like most IEM style earbuds, they're a little bass heavy and the high end can't quite compete, but a pretty decent value.

I had the AKG's before and they were a lot of things but not comfy or robust. Great sound for the price though.
They clamp on your head very tight, which is a problem especially if you wear glasses. I did, and I still liked them but yeah, not very comfy. Also the swiveling mechanism is very cheap plastic and will be prone to snap when something unexpected happens.

i bought a pair of these for $20 about 2 1/2 years ago. they are fine. the skin is peeling off the foam though. they are about $30 on amazon, but i would not pay $50 for them

this is my question exactly. i have been wearing sennheiser earbuds but they don't stay in the proper position within my ears. as soon as they become dislodged, the bass gets really dampened and sometimes they fall out completely.

sounds like you just need different caps. those AIAIAIs i mentioned came with seven different cushions/caps. Shures usually come with 4 or 5. Might try either of those.

the HD515s are so so so so comfortable. Wear them for hours at a time and frequently forget I have them on.
