Why can't I get a fucking job

Got a job offer 4 days before my severance ran out.

Fucking awesome 5 month paid vacation.

Also I should definitely build some kind of penalty for late payment into my next job contract, but in general I much prefer to just do honest work and not have to fuck with a company dragging its feet. If I wanted that kind of hassle I would go back to full-time freelancing

i used to work in supplier relations for a huge dickhead company, and i feel for ya. basically i was the liaison between thousands of our suppliers and our accounting/operations departments...except i had no authority to remedy anything. they just hired me as a sounding board so accounting wouldnt actually have to take all these calls. like i would have these poor mom and pop places calling me up because we hadn't paid them on a job from four months ago. oh! the best part was when suppliers would say their terms were Net 30 or some shit...didnt matter. they just got automatically entered into our system as Net 90. or when our stock was doing really shitty, we just wouldnt pay anyone at all for a month. just stopped cutting checks.

Well, I'm guaranteed an interview for this Indianapolis job. Chances of me getting it are 50/50. I will be flying back in August for the interview and then I guess I find out.


In the meantime, I'm going to start a hardcore search for a better job in Austin. Any tips on how to make my resume badass?

Keep it simple and uncluttered. I think having some type of visually appealing element on it can make it stand out from the rest. In my case, I made a little logo with my name. I dunno if this helped but a few people I interviewed with said mine stood out from the rest.

I'm sure there are others here that have better advice. But forreal, keep it simple and don't clog it up with irrelevant work/volunteer experience.

Agreed with everything camping said. Maybe even find a different format for your resume, even if you don't change anything about your wording in your resume. It's really dumb but any spelling mistakes will kill you. I see that shit all the time it's insane. Talk yourself up but not to over the top. Basically make what you have done in the past seem glamorous and challenging, it's all about selling yourself. I dunno these seem pretty dumb to list but I hope they might help you.

EDIT: got two rejection letters from the big museum up here. they don't hire people without phds anymore, apparently, since the market is so fucking insane right now. shit. i can't even go back to school up here because it's fucking burlington and there are no masters programs for anything i am remotely interested in.

it is fun! i paid for summer school with around 8-10 baseball games. wasn't particularly aggressive about heckling passersby but I got tips through riding hard. sometimes I'd get $40 a ride if my stupid jokes were connecting.
